A fun and fabulous evening to support local women in our community! Guests will enjoy an exciting night out,
with live and silent auctions for designer purses and amazing prize packages, raffle prizes, cocktails and
more! Proceeds benefit a new United Way women's scholarship fund and support Emergency Shelter for
Families in Champaign County.
Mission
Inspire, enhance and strengthen the lives of women and children by raising funds for education, shelter and
basic needs.

6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Pear Tree Estate in Champaign, IL
(Registration begins at 5:30)

Scholarships & Emergency Shelter for Families
Scholarships for Women – Scholarships will be given out to women living in Champaign County pursuing job
training, technical or vocational certification, or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. This new scholarship fund is
aiming to provide life-changing contributions toward the education expenses of these women.
Emergency Shelter for Families – Over 300 schoolchildren were registered with no permanent address in
Champaign County this year. Power of the Purse will provide financial support for the Emergency Shelter for
Families, which provides emergency housing for homeless families to keep them intact. These funds will also
provide case management services to help these families end the cycle of homelessness.

individuals, businesses and organizations are critical to the Power of the Purse fundraising efforts.

Bourke and more, the Power of the Purse silent auction is a purse lover's dream. The silent auction also includes

The Power of the Purse Wine Pull is a fun way for guests to help United Way raise additional dollars at the event.
Donated wine (ranging in value) is wrapped and guests buy a ticket for a chance to win a great, or even better,
bottle of wine. If you have a great bottle of wine to donate, let us know!
In-kind donations will be recognized in the program by the value indicated on donation form.
