We implore the students to master all the words in the Word Bank: the words’ spelling, synonyms, antonyms, phonetic expressions and etymology. Rounds 1 GROUP 1 & 2 GROUP 3,4,5 & 6 Dictation Dictation Prepare from the Word bank you received. Learn to spell the words correctly. Questions will be asked from the Word Bank ONLY. Column A words will be taken from the Word Bank. 3 The Words for this Round also will be taken from the Word Bank. Find the Correct Spelling Match the following The words in column A are to matched with their meanings in column B. Column A words will be taken from the Word Bank. Jumble - Tumble (Find the word) The Words for this Round also will be taken from the Word Bank. Pick up the most suitable word 4 Nil Fill in the missing letter 5 The Words for this Round will be chosen from the Word Bank. The Words from the Word Bank shall be the answer options. This is to check your understanding of the usage of the words. World Build The Words will be chosen from the Word Bank. The student will be asked to form as many words as s/he can. The formed words should have 4 or more letters. (No olurals, proper nouns or acronyms) Phonetics Finish the sentence 6 The Words for this round also will be chosen from the Word Bank. 7 Prepare from the words in the Word Bank. A pictorial representation of the word and the first letter of the word will be given as clues. Picture cross word Words will be chosen from Word Bank. The student will be expected to write the phonetic expressions of the words asked. We follow British English and so we recommend Cambridge dictionary. Follow this link for their online page: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/ Cross word Prepare from the words in the Word Bank. Clues will be provided to fill in the Crossword. Idioms & phrases Form a Sentence 8 Sentence with jumbled up words will be given to put in the right order. Questions will be asked in the form of rebus puzzles. Idioms will only be chosen from the preparatory material sent. AN EXAMPLE OF A REBUS: Answer: Wrong end of the sick Spell Alert Find the error 9 Words from the Word Bank will only be used. This round again is to check the spelling knowledge. 10 Nil Write in Alphabetical Order 11 Given sets of words should be written in standard alphabetical order. Words from the Word Bank will only be used. The different forms of the words used will be given with/without spelling errors. Students will have to identify the errors. Example: Absorption Absorp Absorb Absorbancy Absorbency Absorbd Absorbed Pick the Odd one out Logical and Language based questions will be asked. Synonyms & Antonyms Learn the Synonyms and Antonyms of words in the Word Bank. This will be a multiple choice round. Pair the words 12 Students will have to think and pick the answer from the given options to form a word pair as the question. EXAMPLE FIRE : HOT ICE : ? Options: Blue, Tired, Cold Answer: COLD General Knowledge 13 14 Use the Clue - Find the Word Students will have to find one word substitutions for the given string of words. EXAMPLE: One who looks on the bright side of things Answer: Optimist General Knowledge According to the respective age group: the general language and literature based questions will be asked.
