Enabling MAE in Property Manager
Overview
Media Acceleration (“MAE”) lets Akamai customers enhance their applications using
innovative technologies on phones, tablets, computers and other devices. This effectively extends the “Akamai Intelligent Platform” into a user’s device and adds the
potential to dramatically improve the quality of the online user experience.
About This Document
This document describes how to enable MAE for your Property (domain) using the
Akamai Luna Control Center.
About the Beta Program
The Beta program for Media Acceleration will evolve over time to include multiple
technologies, on multiple platforms, as part of its modular architecture. In this phase,
we are targeting devices running Android, iOS, and tvOS, and performing high-quality video streaming over Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) or Dynamic Adaptive
Streaming over HTTP (DASH), as well as downloads.
By participating in the Beta program, you have an opportunity to influence the technology that we expect will redefine the quality of online experiences.
Prerequisites
 During the Beta phase, MAE must be explicitly enabled on your contract (as a
“Trial Product”). Contact your Akamai Representative for details and assistance.
 Enable “Shared Certificate”. This enables secure, “HTTPS” transport for your
property.
 Modify your links so accessing users will reach the domain over “HTTPS” (rather
than “HTTP”).
 Recommended: Know the name of the applicable Property Manager Configuration. These configurations are established for the products that offer support for
MAE (for example, Adaptive Media Delivery). You will be editing this configuration to add MAE support.
