NIT Rourkela has been ranked eighth in a nation-wide engineering college EDURAND survey. The ranking were conducted by pick-a-college.com wherein 850
engineering institutions that that were founded in 2009 or earlier and annually
enroll at least 200 students in their engineering programmes were surveyed. According to the surveyor, the EDU-RAND ranking relied on objective measurements, not on surveys of perceptions of quality. The EDU-RAND ranking are
intended to guide students seeking admissions to an engineering colleges or university.
In a press note released to media RK Sinha, Secretory, Public relation committee
of NIT, Rourkela said that the institute has been continuously making rapid progress in all round development apart from academic credentials and is becoming
more visible and preferred destination for higher education among the aspiring
students.

Android Application for library updates
Biju Patnaik Central Library has developed an android application to access library updates through any smartphone which supports android OS. Through this
application one can get the detail about e-books, e-thesis and other general information available with BPCL.

Springer Engineering e-Books & Lecture Notes in Computer Science
Biju Patnaik Central Library has added e-books and Lecture Notes in Computer Science to its collection which was on high demand by NITR academic community for a long time. The e-books is available in
the discipline Engineering from the year 2005-2014 which included approximately 6000 titles. Similarly, Lecture Notes in Computer Science is also accessible from Vol.1. to - . These resources can be accessed and
downloaded from the link given below.

Ebola Virus - a health issue...
The Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a severe condition caused by a
virus from the Filoviridae family. Known to be a condition that is transmitted from animals to humans, this
virus spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or animal.
How is it diagnosed?
Usually a doctor will be able to diagnose the condition with the symptoms alone, but in order to confirm the
diagnosis he/she may prescribe tests like CBC (Complete Blood Count), coagulation studies (a test to check
for the amount of time a person’s blood needs to clot), viral antigen testing (a test to check for the presence of
the viral antigen) and a liver function test.
Renovation of Biju Patnaik Central Library

renovation of Biju Patnaik Central Library. The library was inspected by all the member of renovation team and the work was
started from the Ground Floor.
The work completion was assured
to be completed by the end of
September 2014.

New Arrival: Books & Periodicals
Every week on Monday, New Arrival List is generated based on the processed books last week and journals
received on different dates in the last 2 weeks. The list of new arrivals (Books & Journals) is sent to all the
member of NITR Academic Community to inform about the availability of new books and Journals in the library.
Books and Journals are displayed in the display area in the Library. During display period, any member of the
library reserve the book to issue, once the books are sent to shelf.
