KEY PLAYERS
LINDSAY DIRECTS LARGE, TURNKEY
IRRIGATION PROJECT IN RUSSIA
Lindsay irrigation engineering and
design expertise, combined with leading
edge products and technology, played a
key role in one of Russia’s most modern
irrigation projects.
Irrico, a Russian-based agricultural
investment company, partnered with
Lindsay to bring modern farming
practices to the Stavropol Krai region
of southern Russia.
Today, 4,000 hectares (9,885 acres)
of previously dryland farm ground
near Stavropol is irrigated by 63 new
Zimmatic 9500 center pivots, with water
pumped by five new Watertronics
pump stations, each capable of pumping
90,850 liters (24,000 gallons) of water
per minute.
The area of Stavropol was once a
productive, irrigated agricultural region,
with ample water supplies and canals.
However, with the break-up of the
former Soviet Union, the irrigation
infrastructure on the land went into
total disrepair. Crops grown there
could not be irrigated.
In stepped Irrico with a vision
and a multi-million-dollar investment
portfolio to bring modern farming
practices and irrigation to the region.
Lindsay’s involvement in the
project included:
•
Irrigation and engineering
design expertise
•
Leading-edge products

•

•
