Your reliable partner
While most products are designed to meet
relevant standards and typical application
requirements, there are some industry activities
that require products to fulfill application
requirements that often exceed these typical
operating conditions. These extreme applications
are often referred to as ‘arduous’. While the term
‘arduous’ is widely utilised, it has no standard
definition as arduous requirements cover a
number of criteria. As a company that prides
itself on being “easy to do business with”, NHP has
collated a number of operating conditions that
we have identified as being arduous and sourced
the products from our range that are the most
suitable. While industry activities will cover some
of the criteria, rarely will they cover all.

Arduous Standards
NHP defines arduous as an operating condition which, for extended periods
of time, exceeds the relevant standards or typical operating condition in
terms of one or more of the following:
HIGH RESISTANCE TO WEAR AND TEAR FROM:
Chemical attack
UV or ozone exposure
Strong impact or excessive vibration
HIGH OPERATING TOLERANCE DUE TO:
Wide voltage fluctuations (> ±10%)
Excessive current (> 150% rated)
Excessive operations or continuous use
WIDE ENVIRONMENTAL TOLERANCE DUE TO:
Extreme temperatures (< 0˚C, > 45˚C)
Exposure to excessive water at high pressure
Strong winds/cyclonic conditions

NHPEx is NHP’s Hazardous Area Equipment (HAE) offering that provides a wide
range of solutions for arduous installations. Maintaining international standards
to regulate the quality of our products for electrical equipment in hazardous
areas, the range includes light fittings, terminal boxes and control stations.
NHP also supplies a range of customer specific systems via our certified assembly workshop
located at our National Manufacturing and Distribution Centre in Melbourne, Australia. In this
workshop, accredited staff design, construct and inspect products according to the requirements
of IECEx certification - ultimately allowing for flexibility to produce custom solutions that suit your
arduous requirements.
