My name is Rochelle Abrams and I am the Head Athletic Trainer at MHS. Athletic Training
(AT) is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as an allied health (medical)
profession that provides comprehensive care to the physically active and athletic population.
Here at MHS we provide physical therapy, emergency care, first aid etc. for all athletes in our
UIL sports.
As we approach the spring semester I would like to invite any highly motivated, medical career
driven, responsible 8th graders to try out for our program. A few of things students are able to
learn and achieve being a member of our medical crew include:
• Knowledge and skills in an Allied Health Profession
• Advantage over other incoming college freshman entering an Accredited Athletic Training Program
• COLLEGE Scholarships
• High School LETTER MEN Jacket
• Scholarship MONEY to attend local Athletic Training Conventions, Symposiums and Summer Camp
• Universal Job skills: Professional Networking, Community Service, Budgeting, Communication Skills, Facility Design, Time
Management, Responsibility, Work Ethic and Professional relationships
• Knowledge of a variety of athletic SPORTS rules, regulations, injuries and scheduling
• Ability to learn different REHABILITATION protocols when dealing with different injuries
• Knowledge of general First Aid, CPR, Nutrition and Environmental Conditions, which you can use and teach in your COMMUNITY
• Knowledge of emergency care, insurance claims and doctor referrals
• LEADERESHIP opportunities within Stratford High School, where athletes, coaches and teachers will look to you for assistance
Our admission requirements are as follows:
• Must maintain passing grades according to UIL standards
• Must follow the Athletic Department Code of conduct
• Must follow all rules and regulations set by Memorial High School
• Must be able to adhere to the rules set by the MHS Athletic Training program
• Must be able to adhere to different types of environmental conditions and long hours

be April 21th at 3:45 in the MHS Athletic Training Room. Tryouts will run every day from
Wednesday May 2nd 3:45 - 5:45 till Wednesday May 25th.
