What I'm looking forward to in Year 12....
I am really excited about and looking forward to a
creative Year 12, doing subjects that I absolutely
enjoy like Art and Design. I can't believe how quick
the time has gone and it will be sad to see the end of
my time at HCCS but I will definitely be coming back to
visit. Chloe
What is Alice looking forward to in Year 12?



the choice of subjects allows me to choose subjects
which I know I’m better at and enjoy
the chance to use more creativity and have more
choice , as a foundation student, to plan how the
Year 12 classroom will look and function
not having to complete Research Project during Year
12 as I did it in Year 11 and having only 4 subjects
to complete. Less stress on me!
Last Saturday night, our students did us proud
performing at the Balhannah/Oakbank Community
Carols on the OAS / HCCS lawns.
Year 8 teacher, Michelle Bull, was terrific in her ‘stage
manager’ role making sure everything ran smoothly.
A big thank you to Year 9 teacher, Ellen Lyall, and Mark
Hudson, who had prepared the students beautifully for
their performances.
We were entertained by the HCCS Secondary
Singers, the HCCS Secondary Chapel Band and
Music Ensembles from some of our Primary
students.
YEAR 6 MATHS

In Maths this term, we have been learning how to
correctly measure angles using protractors. The
different angles we have learnt abought are acute
angles which are less than 90 degrees, obtuse
angles which are more than 90 degrees but less than
180 degrees, right angles which are exactly 90
degrees, straight angles which are exactly 180
degrees, reflex angles which are more than 180
degrees but less than a full turn and finally a
revolution which is 360 degrees.

A fun outcome to our unit has been applying what we
have learnt to a real life situation. We got to design a
pro mini golf course with 5 holes. Our course
needed to be challenging for the players and could
include lakes, bunkers and mountains. Our course had
to include a variety of different angles and 2D
shapes. By Ella, JC and Cooper

Our 2016 Swimming Carnival was a day of fun, laughter and
celebration of some very skilled swimmers. Thanks to Mr
Sanders and the HCCS Staff Team for creating and managing
such a delightful HCCS community occasion and thank you
to all our parents and grandparents for supporting. Well
done to Sandow for winning the Bosisto Cup on the day!

Farewell Desley
We will say farewell to Desley on a
number of occasions during December.
Thursday, December 1st — Just prior to
the commencement of the ELC — Year
2 Christmas Nativity and musical
event, HCCS will thank Desley for her
wonderful and generous service to the
whole School community for over 15 years.
Tuesday, December 13th - During the Christmas
Worship / Year 7 Graduation Celebration, the School will
again thank Desley and her husband Rob who has also made
a huge contribution to the life of HCCS for over a decade.
The HCCS Board will also invite Desley and Rob to join them
for dinner.
The School wanted to have a separate ‘Desley only’ occasion
to celebrate her contribution but Desley, in her humble way,
would prefer using the current happenings.
