2007 UMC Excellence in Masonry Design Winner
The building design and lay-out for this school is unique and very functional, and is so well liked by
the school teachers and administrators that it has now been built three times in the Weber School
District (Freedom Elementary and West Haven Elementary were built previously and are the other
two buildings that match this same design). Masonry has been an integral part of the structure
since conception and has supported the design goals and intent very well.
Plain City Elementary stands as an example of both aesthetic form and natural function. The
robust masonry walls that adorn the entire exterior surface of the building are very inviting and
give the building a feeling of solidarity, commitment, longevity, and security to the students that
will come to receive an education.
