Dear Parents/Guardians,
November in Review
As usual, Parkview was bustling in November!
Assembly
Students and staff gathered for an assembly which recognized student “Bucket
Fillers” and those with perfect attendance, in addition certificates were presented to
students who completed the Caribou Math test.
Ready, Set, Learn
On November 21 Parkview School welcomed many families with children 3 and 4
years old to our annual Ready, Set, Learn event. This is a free event and families
received free books and a kit of materials and resources to help support their
child’s early learning experiences.
Remembrance Day Assembly
On Thursday, November 10 Parkview students respectfully recognized our
veterans at a Remembrance Day Assembly.
Moustache Day
On Wednesday, November 16, student displayed their best moustaches.
Skating at the Arena
Many Parkview students have enjoyed skating at the arena as part of their regular
P.E. program this month. Thank you for the generosity of the arena staff for giving
our students the opportunity to learn how to skate.
School Goal Update
1. Writing: This is the perfect time of year to support our writing goal at home!
Letters to Santa, instructions for his elves on how to build great toys, lists of things
you would like to do over the winter holidays etc are all great writing activities.
2. Reading: When friends and family come to visit over the holidays these are
great opportunities for snuggling up with a great book and reading aloud to each
other. Reading before bed can also settle excited young minds and help them get to
sleep
3. Math: Have fun playing games such as Yahtzee, Crib, or Monopoly. These
games are not only fun, but build great math skills.
Parking Lot
We all want to keep our parking lot safe and accessible! Please do not park (even
for a few moments) in the bus lane. Our bus drivers need to be able to access the
lane at all times during the school day.
Math Contest
We are extremely proud of all of the students who wrote the Caribou Math contest.
This is a worldwide contest for students in grade 3 and up.
Christmas Concert
Plan to attend our Christmas Concert on Wednesday December 7. Students have
been working very hard to entertain you. If you are unable to attend the evening
concert you are welcome to come to our dress rehearsal at 12:45 on Tuesay,
December 6. Parkview students will watch the performance during the rehearsal.
Evening Performance begins at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5:10. Students
need to arrive in their classrooms no later than 5:15 p.m. The children stay with
their teachers until the end of the concert, usually about an hour and a half. They
will only be in the gym to perform and will meet their parents in their class after
the show’s school wide grand finale. If your child cannot attend either
performance, please let the school know in advance.
Please call if you have any questions.
Donations to the Foodbank will be gratefully accepted.
