school year. As you know each year Alberta Education releases its annual results in regards
to several performance measures that indicate how schools within the province are preforming based on data released from Alberta Education and that which is provided by students, parents and teachers. Red Earth Creek has shown great improvement over the last
several years and we will continue to modify strategies we have in place to ensure that
these improvements will continue in the future. So, on November 19 all parents are welcome to join us at to our monthly Parent Council meeting where we will interpret our
results and present to you our strategies that we will have in place to ensure continued
success for Red Earth Creek Students as outlined in our AERR 3 Year Education Plan. Also
coming up in November we will be having our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony on
November 7th, and will be celebrating Parents Matter Week form November 17 t- 21, to
show our appreciation for all you do in helping make each students educational experience a success.

Grades 1– 3
The Grade 1, 2, 3 class had an exciting
month in October. With Halloween
crafts, our Halloween party and the Fall
Fair. We had a great time enjoying all
these fun activities. The students also
headed outside this month and collected
leaves to create a Fall place mat. We
had a great time out walking in the
field and searching for the perfect
leaves.
The 1, 2, 3, class have also been excited
this month to have our class set of 10
IPad’s all set up and ready to use. They
get to use many educational apps to
practice many literacy and numeracy
skills.
Our class has been continuing our superhero of the day and the kids are always
excited if the superhero is revealed!
Congratulations to Ryder, Joshua, Elizabeth, Tim, Hayden, Kaidenze, Leah,
Kairie, Taneisha, Honey, Nathaniel,
Jessica, Jamie and Ryan for gaining superhero status in our class!! They are all
working towards getting a gold star if
they are the mystery superhero again!!
Keep up the great work!!
Our class picture from our Halloween party. Everyone had fantastic
costumes!! We had a great time
with A LOT of snacks. Thank you
to all parents who took the time to
send in snacks to share with the
class!!! It is greatly appreciated!
The kids also enjoyed watching a
movie while eating their snacks.
The Grade 1, 2, 3 class are now busy
practicing a poem for the Remembrance Day assembly and they are excited to recite it for everyone!

Leaf collecting!!!
The kids are loving getting to
use the IPad’s to practice their
literacy and numeracy skills.
Grades 4-6
October was a busy month for grades 4-6 students. Our class
worked hard this month writing mystery stories for Mr. Slaney’s
Spooky Story contest, preparing for Fall Fair, Halloween and most
exciting of all, our class Science Fair!
Students presented Science Fair presentations on a variety of different topics. Some of the fun demonstrations included a homemade
lava lamp, a neon bouncy ball, a demonstration on how soap works,
and elephant toothpaste! (just to name a few). Our class worked
hard to prepare everything at home, and presented in front of both
their classmates and parents! Our Science Fair winners were:
1st Place—Keira Gray—Lava Lamp
2nd Place—Jordan Bessette and JP—Elephant Toothpaste
3rd Place—Riley MacDougall and Jorden Bohay—Bouncy Ball
A BIG Congratulations to all our winners!
Students enjoyed using pastels to create fall themed pictures
Our class is excited for the upcoming month of November. Students
will be creating a poem for the Remembrance Day ceremony.

Fall Fair Fright!
Student volunteers dressed as zombies and succeeded in giving
quite a scare to participants in the Red Earth Zombie walk. A big
thank-you goes out to the zombie volunteers and adult supervisors who helped out.
Senior High Career Camp
Career Camp
I went to Grouard for the 4 day Career
Exploration Camp. The trade I went
into was welding. I really enjoyed
learning things about welding, and all
the important things that go with it. I
appreciate everything that not only our
teachers did to get us there but our
instructors that took the time to teach
us what they know best. I actually
would like to pursue a career in welding, the information and the hands on
experience really opened my eyes to
see how hard and difficult welding is. I
really enjoyed my entire experience
especially the volleyball and basketball
games; they were insane. I hope we
get another chance to do something
like this and I would hope that it opens
other peoples eyes like it did mine. :)

Trades Camp at NLC
Taylor Alyssa B Savardd
My experience at trades camp was marvelous. At the Northern Lakes College that we were
lucky enough to go to, taught me so much about photography that I didn’t even know about.
Everything that they taught could help me (and others) in the future. Cool fact about photography is there are 33 different types and ways to take a photo. Photography is fantastic because you can see so many things in different ways since everybody has their own unique
perspective. There was other good courses I could have picked like welding, carpentry, millwright, electrical, ect.. Going to a college where they teach you how to do things properly is
stunning, I am so thankful I got to have that experience. Every student and teacher got their
own dorm rooms too, they were such small, cute, creepy rooms it was a lot of fun being
away for awhile and learning like that. Hopefully we get to share this journey we had next
year again.
RED EARTHPUBLIC/SCHOOL LIBRARY
LIBRARY NEWS
Our library is open Monday through Friday during the
hours of 8:30a.m and 4:30 p.m. , but soon we maybe open
extra hours every Tuesday and Wednesday. The library
and Lego clubs are doing well.
However, a permission form will be sent out to the parents starting in the month of November as a way of keeping track of the children allowed to be in the clubs. I have
come up with some interesting ideas for both clubs.

Red Earth Public & School Library
Peace Library Systems has also joined ME Libraries,
which is basically an Alberta wide book borrowing program. Also in the near future the PLS will be receiving a
brand new library card. They will be plastic with the barcode right on them. These ideas are a couple of new
things coming to our library.
Our public Library also received a great amount of donated books. Among the books, donated are fiction, adult
paperback, and Young Adult books. So I would like to
send out a special thanks to the Wabasca Library and also to Dollie Anderson for their kind donations to our little library.
