Chris Terry, Regional Director of Operations Regency Retirement Community of Huntsville Recent Events Mardi Gras Celebration – February 28th Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party – March 2nd Celebrating Mardi Gras in style, the residents of Regency met in the dining room to enjoy the musical “Green eggs and ham!”....quoted Dr. Seuss. “Green eggs and ham!” So to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, styling of the Tea Time Band with Randy Taylor playing jazz music, while savoring Chicken Cordon Bleu SCALF residents from 2nd and 3rd floors paraded with the Dr. Seuss flags. Immediately following, the se- and multi-colored King cake for lunch. Donning masks and beads while blowing noisemakers, the residents niors dined on freshly cooked green eggs and ham, while wearing “Cat in the Hat” hats. Employee of the Year/Month Celebration – March 2nd St. Patricks’ Day Theme Lunch – March 17th Opening the Annual Employee of the Year/Month Ceremony, Executive Director Chris Terry recognized the Corned beef, boiled cabbage, fried potatoes....and green cake! Yum. Yum. Talk about a delicious menu set employees of the month for the year 2016. Applause was heard throughout the room, as the crowd congratulated those that were awarded. In addition, Richard Wade was honored as 2016 Employee of the Year. To conclude the ceremony, the owners, Rick and Randy, praised the staff members for an outstanding year and for their over-and-above attention and love to the residents. Wearing sparkly green hats, green beads, and more, the seniors enjoyed their meal surrounded by good friends, to the tunes of Irish and Celtic music in the dining room. The luncheon was followed by the Patty Murphy Band and the Irish Rose Dancers in the Sun Room. Moving to the Celtic beat, the pair put on quite the show amidst applause and appreciative compliments, as they encouraged cultural identity among the seniors. Mardi Gras – February 28th Regency Health Care & Rehab Center was decorated and employees were dressed to set the atmosphere for Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday. The celebration continued with a parade of music, throwing beads, passing of moon pies, whistles, gold coins and masks. All residents feasted on traditional King Cake which included ‘finding a baby’ inside. St. Patrick’s Day – March 17th For the entire month of March, we celebrated Ireland and Irish heritage. The residents viewed videos of Ireland showcasing the culture and beautiful countryside. The perfect opportunity for our Lunch Bunch to experience an Irish restaurant came just days before St. Patrick’s Day. Submerged in the cultural ambiance of the Irish, the Lunch Bunch enjoyed Reubens and beef stew at The Original Public House. On St. Patrick’s Day residents enjoyed corned beef and cabbage, and beef stew for lunch. Health Care Employee of the Month DeAnn Marbury DeAnn Marbury has effectively served as a CNA for Regency for over four years, and has been a CNA for 18 years. DeAnn is known to treat our residents as if they were a part of her family. Always knowledgeable about her residents and exceeding expectations, she has pleased an abundance of residents and family members. Due to her great service skills she has recently accepted a dual role in the position of Concierge / Restorative. While still using her CNA skills she plays a large role in the admission process and sets up all pre-ordered meals for the rehabilitation patients.
