The Carolina Hotel
Some say you can feel the spirit of Pinehurst as you turn onto Carolina Vista. This majestic century-old hotel with its signature copper cupola and sweeping verandas make you
feel as though you’ve stepped back in time to an era when elegance defined grand hotels and resorts. Dubbed the “Queen of the South,” the Carolina has 230 Four-Diamond
guest rooms, including suites.

Golf Course Information
No. 2 Pinehurst No. 2, the centerpiece of Pinehurst
N
Resort,
R
remains one of the world’s most celebrated golf
courses.
It has served as the site of more single golf
c
championships
c
than any course in America and hosted
back-to-back
U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Chamb
pionships
p
for the first time in 2014. The U.S. Open will
return
re
in 2024.
Opened
O
in 1907, No. 2 was designed by Donald Ross,
who
w called it “the fairest test of championship golf I have
ever
e
designed.” Ross was associated with the course for
nearly
a half-century, improving the course continually unn
til
ti his death in 1948. No. 2 is best known for its crowned,
undulating
u
greens, which are some of the most complex
and
a widely hailed in the world. Ross believed in providing
golfers
g
with strategic choices, and Pinehurst No. 2 was
intended
nded to epitomize that philosophy.
No. 4 combines the classical routing of Donald Ross with
the contemporary vision of Tom Fazio, who re-imagined the
e
course in 2000. Fazio tipped his hat to Ross with crowned
greens on many holes, and the addition of more than
140 pot bunkers. These, combined with several sprawling
g
waste bunkers and more traditional sand traps, give the
track a dizzying 188 sand hazards.
Though adjacent to No. 2, No. 4 has a distinctively different
ent
nt
look, in large part thanks to the lake that acts as its centerterrpiece. The lake comes into play on several holes, including
ding
the par-5 13th, which demands a drive to a small landing area
rea
bounded by the lake on the left and bunkers on the right. The
The
co-site of the 2008 U.S. Amateur, the course will host the 2017
017
U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
No. 8 Building a new course grand enough to celebrate
No
Pinehurst’s
Pin
first 100 years might intimidate some architects,
but
b Tom Fazio took on the assignment with gusto. No. 8 –
bu
which
wh
w
opened in 1996 – combines classic Donald Ross concepts
cce
ep with the whimsical snarls that have become Fazio’s calling
ing card.
Many
Ma feel No. 8 synthesizes all the elements of the Pinehurst
golf
golf experience into one layout.
This
Thi championship track has twice been home to the PGA Club
Pro Championship. Just a short drive from the main club, the
Pinehurst
Pin
spirit is quite alive at No. 8, which will serve as the
companion
course for the 2019 Men’s U.S. Amateur Champicom
onship.
