Dear Swimmer,
We are delighted to invite you to the very first Sedibeng Aquatics Invitational
Level 0 gala (now called Level 1).

Deep Blue Swim Centre, De Villiers Ave, Vereeniging.
Participants from all four Gauteng Districts will be participating – Northern Tigers Swimming (Pretoria),
Central Gauteng Aquatics, Eastern Gauteng Aquatics and Sedibeng Aquatics.
We are able to accept a maximum of 35 swimmers from each district for the gala.
EVENT LIST
AGE GROUPS 8 – 9 years, 10 years, 11 years, 12 years, 13 years, 14 years, 15 – 16 years
1. 50m races for each stroke (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle).
2. 100m IM (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle).

The program includes a fun, LADDER relay. Districts may enter 2 teams.




The gala is open to Level 1 swimmers, (registered or non registered).
The deadline for entries is Friday 4 November 2016.
Manual entries need to be done on the attached excel spreadsheet.
Entry form and proof of payment must be emailed to [email protected].
Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third places in each age group for boys and girls.
Ribbons may be collected from the announcer’s gazebo.
RULES OF COMPETITION
1. Races may be swum as mixed aged-groups but results will be recorded in the correct age
categories.
2. All races will be swum as a timed final.
3. Results = age on day 8 - 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 - 16 years.
4. A 6-lane format will apply.
5. The organising committee takes no responsibility for any loss or injury incurred during the
gala.
6. We will require assistance with Timekeeping. Please will each district provide 4 timekeepers
willing to assist. Please email your details to [email protected].
ON THE DAY OF THE GALA

Officials to report at 08h15. Dress code is navy pants and a white shirt.
Swimmers are to report to the marshall area 20 minutes before their event.
All swimmers need to wear swimming costumes and caps from their districts if possible.
No supporters on pool deck – please respect the pool boundaries.
Encourage each other and adhere to good sportsmanship.
FINA swimming rules will be adhered to. However, the focus of the gala is not on disqualifying
swimmers but on educating them.

The gala registration fee is R30 per swimmer and R15 per event.
Relay entry fee is R40 per team.
The entry fees must be paid into Sedibeng Aquatics’ account (see details below.)
A gate fee of R10 per person and R5.00 per child (ages 3-12) will be charged. This fee does not
apply to swimmers and officials.
5. Programmes will be on sale at the entrance gate.
6. Deep Blue Swim Centre is based at Vereeniging Gimnasium. Designated parking is available
within the school grounds and car guards will be available; a parking fee of R10 per car will be
charged.
