OWNER PROFILE | MIKE BLUM Mike Blum, president of Red Restaurant Ventures, LLC, is responsible for the daily operations and leadership of the company. With an impressive resumé boasting over 12 years in the hospitality industry, Blum brings boundless energy, sharp focus and endless creativity to Big Chow Grill. Blum’s varied and extensive hospitality career officially began at Liberty House Restaurants, which includes nationally acclaimed Bones Restaurant, Blue Ridge Grill, and OK Café. Blum’s dedication and work ethic positioned him to become the youngest manager in the company’s 21-year history. Upon leaving Liberty House Restaurants, Blum accepted a position as general manager at Fratelli di Napoli. Impressed with his keen sense of management and enthusiasm, the owners promoted Blum to Director of Operations where he oversaw all aspects of the rapidly growing restaurant concept. With his attention to detail and financial savvy, Blum had a significant impact on the very successful sale of the company. Blum then became General Manager of one of Atlanta’s top ten restaurants, Spice, where he worked with distinguished chef Paul Albrecht. Blum opened the predecessor to Big Chow Grill, The Real Chow Baby, in 2005 with the singular goal of introducing a concept that provided fresh ingredients, impeccable customer service and a high-energy atmosphere at a competitive price point. With the popularity and success of the original Westside location, the 10,000 square-foot Cobb Galleria location opened in 2008 and featured two market-fresh stir-fry lines, an expanded bar, private dining space and increased seating capacity to accommodate Atlanta diners’ demand for more healthy chow. Formerly The Real Chow Baby at Cobb Galleria, Big Chow Grill is all grown up and delivering big American-Asian flavors with more healthy ingredients. The original “baby” is all grown up and the primary focus is now more healthy chow – including more fresh vegetables, more locally sourced ingredients, a wider selection of lean proteins and absolutely no MSG. Subsequently, his goal is for Red Restaurant Ventures to be recognized as a leader in the Atlanta hospitality industry by providing the freshest ingredients, impeccable service and a high-energy atmosphere. Blum seems to have found a formula for success and looks forward to opening other locations and other concepts. His mission is for each guest to walk out of the restaurant happier than when they walked in, and maybe a little healthier. Blum’s passion for service, quality and client satisfaction is key to the overall success of Red Restaurant Ventures. His mission is for each guest to walk out of the restaurant happier than when they walked in, and maybe a little healthier.
