The 2016 Big West Women’s Golf Coach of the Year was awarded to Sofie Aagaard from Cal Poly. Edberg claimed her sixth individual title of the season after winning her second Big West Women’s Golf Championship individual medalist honors. She fired 1-under 71 in the final round of the championship for a 54-hole score of 6-under 210. Over the course of the regular season, she posted top-three finishes in eight of the Titans’ nine tournaments. The Glumslov, Sweden, native won a conference-record five consecutive Big West Golf of the Month awards, bumping her career total to seven, placing her second on the all-time Big West career list. She paced the Big West Conference during the regular season with a 71.5 and is currently ranked 17th according to GolfStat rankings. UC Davis’ Kim Averaged 75.1 through the regular season to finish third on the squad. She finished Top 20 in four tournaments over the season, with the highest finish of 15th coming at the both the Peg Barnard Invitational and the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. Kim finished 27th at the Big West Conference Championship after firing a three-round score of 231. Aagaard claimed her second consecutive coach of the year honor after guiding the Mustangs to their first-ever Big West Conference Women’s Golf Championship. Cal Poly held off a roaring UC Riverside team, who tied a tournament low score of 289, to claim the title at Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif. The Mustangs carded 300 in the final round for a three-day total of 887 to capture both the team title and the conference’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament. Cal Poly also claimed three team titles during the regular season, including one at the same course where the Mustangs won the championship. The also notched three second place finishes.
