ROB ANSELL
Rob has recently joined the Aon management team following the acquisition of Glenrand MIB by Aon
SA and is responsible for internal risk management across the company. Rob will also undertake
special projects in the business with the ongoing and immediate focus being to assist in the
integration of the two businesses.
At Glenrand MIB Rob held the appointment of Executive General Manager: Governance reporting to
the CEO and the Chairman of the Audit Risk and Compliance committee of the Board. In this position
he represented Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit as well as his own discipline, Internal risk
management, at the Glenrand MIB Exco.
Rob joined Glenrand MIB, then Minet SA, in April 1982 on transfer from Minet Zimbabwe where he
had worked as Financial Controller and Company Secretary for two years following an 11 year career
with Barclays Bank. In 1987 Rob moved from Group Accountant to General Manager IT until the
merger in 1998 with Glenrand when he took up the position of Financial Director Short-term broking.
In 2004 Rob was appointed as Chief Risk Officer at Glenrand MIB and then in 2008 as Executive
General Manager: Governance. In this role Rob’s primary responsibility was to direct the
development and operation of an effective and systematic process for Quality Management, Risk
Management, Legal Risk Management, Compliance and Internal Audit across the business. In this
role Rob was involved in the implementation of most major change projects where he was able to
bring his multidisciplinary experience to bear. Over the years Rob has been a member of a number of
industry forums and working groups, most notably in the premium handling and intermediaries
agreement areas and also VAT where in the early 90’s Rob was member of the broker contingent of a
select SAIA / SAIBA VAT committee that planned and facilitated the introduction of VAT in the
insurance industry.
Rob qualified as a chartered secretary in 1976 and was accepted as a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Secretaries in 2002.
