InstaCoustic’s performance applauded at
major London regeneration scheme
InstaCoustic is currently installing its cradle
and batten raised acoustic flooring, together
with the underfloor heating, in all 235
apartments constructed at Trafalgar Place.
This is the first phase of a £1.5bn
regeneration of 28 acres around Elephant &
Castle, being undertaken by Lend Lease in
partnership with Southwark Council.
The eight low level blocks in this major
London Zone 1 redevelopment range from four
to 10 stories. A minimum of 25% of the one,
two and three bedroom apartments will be
Forward
affordable homes and the whole scheme will
achieve a minimum Code for Sustainable
Homes Level 4, meaning properties will be
30% more energy efficient than current
regulations require.
The Trafalgar Place scheme has been, and
will continue to be, tested against best
practice standards in sustainable design. The
fact that our cradles are made from
environmentally friendly recycled rubber
crumb and have a 60 year guarantee were
both important considerations for the design
team. InstaCoustic’s supply and fix teams are
installing our adjustable C40 flooring in all
apartments, with CK30 in the bathrooms and
kitchens. The C40 generally has an 80mm
build up, but on the ground floors it has been
increased to 270mm to allow for additional
thermal insulation.
Installation began in April under a tight
programme that requires completion, with the
underfloor heating commissioned, by mid
September. Our ability to meet these
demands, coupled with our innovative input to
site requirements, was a key factor in Lend
Lease awarding InstaCoustic the contract.

Safety Director spent a morning with our onsite operations. He applauded our

approach to Health and Safety, which
underpins our whole operational ethos.
