On November 15, the above students competed in the Area VI LDE, Leadership Development
Events. Amanda McCoskey, Shannon Murphy, and Alex Foster placed 4th in FFA Broadcasting, which is an event where “a team of 3 members present an informative radio program covering one or more agricultural subjects that is current in nature and local in content.” Nic Norman, J.D. Lindsey, Daniel Lynn, and Katie Jennings placed 6th in the Chapter Agricultural
Quiz, in which they were tested on their “understanding of the FFA, agricultural education, current agricultural events and parliamentary procedure.” Katie Jennings placed 15th in Senior
Creed Speaking. Lane Carr placed 6th in the Greenhand Creed Speaking. These events require
members to “present the FFA Creed from memory and answer questions about its meaning and
purpose.”

Nurse’s Corner
Maud ISD will be training the 7th-12th grade students
“Hands Only CPR.” It is mandated by the state of Texas that
all students grades 7-12 be trained at least once before
graduation. The program is offered by the American Heart
Association, and the classes will be led by Erin Stone.
Counselor’s Corner
Schedule changes will take place on Monday, December 15
and Tuesday, December 16. Any middle or high school student needing to change their schedule for an academic reason, please see Mrs. Harrell. No schedule changes will take
place after these dates.

Gifted and Talented Nominations
If you are interested in nominating a Kindergarten student for the
Gifted and Talented Program, please pick up a nomination form and
parent questionnaire at the school office. Nomination forms can be
picked up beginning January 12 and must be returned by January 23.

Upcoming Events
Senior Parents: Please be aware that FAFSA deadlines for
financial aid will be quickly approaching in the spring. You
will need to have your taxes completed for your student to be
able to complete the FAFSA online. We will have a FAFSA
workshop at school in the spring to assist you with the completion of this important documentation.
Seniors: Please let Mrs. Harrell know if you have accepted
and received any scholarships. This information will be published in our newsletter.
Deadlines for many local scholarships will take place this
spring. Please listen to the announcements and visit Mrs.
Harrell’s information board for this information.
Juniors: If you have not taken an ACT test, this spring is a
good time for you to take the this test.

year on Sunday, December 7 starting at 3:00 p.m.
