Q1. For blood - when do umpires hold time?
Answer. (i) When noticed
Q2. For injury/illness – when do umpires hold time?
Answer. (i) When requested by an on-court player
Q3. In extreme circumstances what may happen?
Answer. (i) The umpires may hold time without a request being made
Q4. When must player leave the court (how long)?
Answer. (ii) Within 30 seconds
Q5. Where does the player receive treatment?
Answer. (ii) Off court
Q6. When do timekeepers advise umpires (how much time remaining)?
Answer. (ii) 10 seconds
Q7. Who is allowed on court to assess player’s medical condition?
Answer. (iii) Only Primary care person/s
Q8. What happens if the primary care person/s advise that the player cannot be removed from court
safely within 30 seconds?
Answer. (iv) The umpires will extend the time for the player to leave the court
Q9. May umpires authorise other persons to assist the player to leave court?
Answer. (v) Yes – including team officials
Q10. What action is taken for blood stoppage before play is restarted?
Answer. (vi) Any blood on the ball or court must be cleaned and any blood stained clothing replaced.
Q11. During the stoppage: Who may make substitutions?
Answer. (vii) Both teams
Q12: During the stoppage: Who may make team changes?
Answer. (vii) Both teams
Q13. How much time is allowed to make substitutions and team changes?
Answer. (vii) Within the time allowed by the umpire
Q14. If no substitution is made for the injured/ill player or for a player who is bleeding, what may happen?
Answer. (viii) Play may resume with the position left vacant
Q15. What happens if no substitution is made and the player is the Centre?
Answer. (viii) One player must move to play as Centre
Q16. If position is left vacant, who may subsequently take the court?
Answer. (ix) The player concerned or a substitute
Q17. If position was left vacant when may a player subsequently take the court?
Answer. (ix) After advising the umpire and immediately after a goal, stoppage for injury/illness or blood,
an interval
Q18. If a player takes the court after a goal is scored, which position must they take up?
Answer. (ix) The position left vacant
