Frequently Asked Questions Q. When is the conference? A. The conference is May 31-June 2, 2017 at the Marriott DTC (May 31 &June 1 - full day/ June 2 half day) Q. How long do I have to register? A. Registration for CCJC will close end of business on APRIL 6, 2017. After this date, you will no longer be able to register. Q. What happens if registration is full before I register? A. A standby/waitlist will be established. After April 6th, any unused slots or cancellations will be filled from the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis. Q. Is parking free? A. Yes. There will be no cost to self-park at the conference hotel. Q. Who is sponsoring the conference? A. The conference is a joint-effort by Correctional Treatment Board (CTB), the Judicial Branch’s Problem-Solving Court Program (PSC) and the Brain Injury Alliance. Q. Who attends this conference? A. The conference is targeted toward the statewide problem-solving court teams as well as the correctional treatment boards in each judicial district. Q. How many people can my district/team bring? A. Please contact Amy Kingery [email protected] for PSC registration questions and Marcy Becker [email protected] for CTB registration questions. Q. What if we have more people we want to bring? A. Space is limited due to the size of the conference venue. Each team is limited to its allotted number of scholarships. Teams will have to determine in advance how best to fill allotted slots and cannot bring more individuals than authorized. CCJC 2017 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PAGE 1 OF 3 Q. What if I can’t make all the days? A. The conference is intended to promote teamwork and will require team planning. If you can’t make every day, please assign an alternative team member who can attend every day to come in your place. You are asked to commit to the entire 3-day program. Q. Who will be speaking at the conference? A. Speakers for the conference come from various practitioner and research backgrounds. Speakers will provide the most up to date research and practices with concrete ways to enhance your own professional practices. Confirmed speakers include Dr. David Mee-Lee, Fleet Maull, Laura van Dernott Lipsky, Helen Harberts, Dr. Jerry Yager, Dr. Kim Gorgens, Dr. Jim Berry, Dr. Shannon Carey, and other local and national speakers. Topics include opioid and MAT related sessions, Trauma Informed Care, evidence-based treatment planning, sessions specific to Traumatic Brain Injury, ensuring equality for historically disadvantaged populations and many other topics specific to Colorado’s problem-solving courts, parole, community corrections, probation, law enforcement and more. Q. What costs are covered by the conference? A. Breakfast for all three days, lunch for the first and second day, and hotel costs for those travelling more than 60 miles from office to hotel. Q. What costs are NOT covered by the conference? A. Dinners, lunch the last day, lodging for people traveling less than 60 miles from office to hotel and mileage reimbursement. Lodging Wednesday and Thursday will be provided for attendees traveling more than 60 miles (office to hotel). Participants traveling more than 120 miles one-way qualify for lodging Tuesday night. If you have been invited to participate in meetings On Tuesday, May 30, 2017 and you are traveling more than 120 miles away, you will be offered accommodations for Monday night as well. Lodging will be managed on a first-come, first-served basis as well. In the event that the conference hotel fills up, overflow lodging at nearby hotels will be provided. Q. How do I know if my judicial district or location qualifies for lodging accommodations? A. Representatives from all districts/locations EXCEPT those listed below qualify for lodging. DISTRICTS NOT QUALIFYING FOR LODGING: 1st District – Jefferson and Gilpin Counties 2nd District – Denver City and County 17th District – Adams and Broomfield Counties 18th District – Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert (NOTE: Lincoln County will qualify for lodging) 20th District – Boulder County CCJC 2017 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PAGE 2 OF 3 Q. Will the local judicial district cover costs that the conference will not? A. It is up to each problem-solving court team and agency to address unfunded costs. It is a jurisdictional decision and should be discussed prior to the conference. There is no guarantee that a judicial district will cover unfunded costs. Q. What if we decide to fly? A. Unique travel arrangements will need to be discussed with the conference planners. What if I want to change my lunch order? A. As part of the registration process, you will designate your choice of a lunch meal. This can be changed up until April 6th. At that time, registration will close and all choices will be submitted to the hotel. You cannot change your mind as the hotel will plan for meals based on the registration information. You will not be allowed to change your meal choice after the 6th of April. Q. Can I get CLE Credit? A. Yes. Judicial officers and attorneys will receive CLE credit and the information will be available at the registration desk at the conference. Q. Where do I find presenter materials? A. All materials, including presenter bios, session descriptions and the conference agenda will be available through our new CCJC App. Information on accessing the app will be available at the registration desk. If you want guaranteed printed copies, please print them prior to coming to the conference. Q. Who do I call with questions? A.
