DOMESTIC EXEMPT BUILDINGS
Detached Buildings (garages, sheds, greenhouses etc.)
1. Not exceed 15 square metres in floor area and contain no sleeping accommodation.
2. Not to exceed 30 square metres in floor area and contain no sleeping accommodation and at least one
metre away from any boundary or the walls constructed substantially of non combustible material.
Extensions (carports, covered way, porch, conservatory etc.)
1. Not to exceed 30 square metres in floor area.
2. If a carport, it should be open on two or more sides (doors are not an open side).
3. If a conservatory or porch, which is wholly or partially glazed, the glazing should satisfy the requirements
of Part N.
4. Must not affect an existing means of escape in case of fire from the building.
5. For a porch or conservatory to satisfy the criteria of an exempt building, separation from the dwelling must
be provided in the form of a suitable external door arrangement.
6. For a conservatory to be exempt it must have a transparent or translucent roof.
