Through friendship, learning, and fun, students will explore what they can accomplish when they work together like Peppa and her friends. Getting Started • H ang up the classroom poster and have students describe what they see. • E xplain that Peppa wants to make a big muddy puddle splash. Ask: – How can Peppa’s friends help her? (Working as a team, they can make a big splash.) – What would happen if Peppa was by herself? (The splash would be smaller.) – Peppa must wear her boots in puddles. If she lost her boots, how could her friends help her? (They could help her find the boots.) • D iscuss with your students what makes a good friend and team player. Ask: – How are you a team in the classroom? (Encourage students to think of ways they join in to work together, help one another, take turns, and include others.) • Distribute the activity pages. • E xplain to kids that they will work as a team to complete the activities and then share what they’ve learned about friendship and teamwork. • A dd a picture of your students working together to the poster and update the picture weekly to encourage teamwork. Using the Activity Pages Peppa’s Boot Maze—Read the activity to the class. Students will work in teams or with a partner to help Peppa complete a maze to find her boots. Explain how they’ll need to collect Peppa’s friends to guide them to the finish line. I’m a Good Friend!—Talk to students about what makes a good friend. For example, a good friend is helpful and kind. Peppa’s friends help her find her boots and make a muddy puddle splash. Then, in the boots, have students draw one example of what makes them a good friend. They can then decorate the boots to hang on their classroom cubbies or to create a teamwork bulletin board! He or she can find items in the grocery store, set or clear the table, or help in other ways. • Create art projects together and have everyone contribute ideas. For example, draw a large picture; make a tissue paper flower garden; build sculptures with paper plates, cups, or newspapers, etc. • Have a family cleanup time so everyone has a role and takes part in the effort. Give your child a specific task, such as putting away toys, placing books on a shelf, making the bed, or putting clothes in a hamper. • Play board games or sports as a family to reinforce taking turns and being part of a team. About Peppa Pig loves jumping up and down in puddles wearing her special golden boots, even if Suzy does think they’re just her ordinary yellow ones. Unfortunately, Mrs. Duck also takes a liking to Peppa’s boots and runs away with them! With the help of her friends, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, George, and Grampy Rabbit, Peppa must travel across land, sea, and even into space to track down the golden boots before the big Puddle Jump competition.
