(Muskogee, Okla. - Iowa Western C.C.)
Russell led the Tigers in batting average with a .714 mark (5-for-7), three runs scored and four runs batted in (1 2B and 1 HR) in a double-header
sweep over Washburn (Kan.) on March 12th. Russell raised his average to .302 on the season and his four RBI moved him to second on the squad
with 15 on the year.
March 23rd
Travis Kerkman
University of Nebraska at Kearney
(6-2, Junior, 1B)
(Lincoln, Neb. - Pius X H.S.)
Kerkman was 13-of-19 (.684 BA) hitting in six games played from March 15-20. He registered five runs scored, seven runs batted in, three doubles,
one home run and two stolen bases over the course of the six games (UNK was 2-4). On the season, he is batting .450 with six HR and 23 RBI, both
team highs. Kerkman is also perfect in the field (0 errors) in 196 chances.
March 30th
Rich Janeway
New Mexico Highlands University
(6-2, Senior, CF)
(Redding, Calif. - Redding H.S.)
Janeway led the 20th-ranked Cowboys to a 7-0 mark (3-0 RMAC) last week as he tallied 16 hits in 29 at-bats (.552 BA) to go along with four home
runs, a double, a triple, 13 runs scored and 16 runs batted in. NMHU swept College of the Southwest (N.M.) and conference foe Metropolitan State
during the seven-game stretch. In total, NMHU has now won 10 consecutive games and 15 of its last 17 to move into the 2005 NCAA Division II
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 and the 2005 NCAA Division II National Collegiate Baseball Writers Top 25, holding down the No. 20 national
ranking in both polls. Janeway is batting .402 (5th RMAC) with seven HR (4th RMAC) and 34 RBI (4th RMAC in 92 at-bats this season.
April 6th
Danny Cummins
Colorado State University at Pueblo
(5-9, Senior, C)
(Chino, Calif. - Don Lugo H.S.)
Cummins led the ThunderWolves in hits (7), runs (9), RBI (9), total bases (15) and batting average (.500) as Colorado State-Pueblo swept RMAC
foe Regis in Denver, Colo. during a four-game league set last weekend. He also slugged 1.071 over the series, was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts,
caught two complete games and managed a pitching staff that gave up an average of 7.50 hits per game and tallied an ERA of 2.53 (Rangers’ BA:
.242). Cummins, who was a First Team All-RMAC selection and a Third Team American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American last
season, is currently riding a 10-game hit streak. In fact, CSU-Pueblo is one of the nation's hottest teams as the ThunderWolves received a vote for
the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 this week, have started 8-0 in RMAC play and have won eight straight and 11 of their last 12 against NCAA
Division II opponents.
April 13th
Dan Kozloski
Regis University
(6-4, Freshman, DH)
(Littleton, Colo. - ThunderRidge H.S.)
Kozloski went a combined 8-for-14 (.571 BA) with two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored, four walks (.632 on-base percentage) and 10 runs
batted in as Regis captured three of four games versus Colorado Mines on April 8-9 at Regis Field. Both of Kozloski’s HR's were grand slams, each
of which came in the same inning (bottom of the 5th) during a game two win (22-15) of the four-game RMAC series. Kozloski managed 4-for-5
(Game 2) and 3-for-3 (Game 4) performances, respectively. For the season, Kozloski is batting .327 with a .500 slugging percentage. He is also
second on the Rangers squad in HR (tied with 4) and RBI (24).

2005 RMAC Players of the Week (continued)
April 20th
Vicente Ramirez
Colorado State University at Pueblo
(5-11, Senior, 2B)
(Albuquerque, N.M. - Rio Grande H.S.)
Filling-in for the injured Drew Hirshon, Ramirez’s typically light bat hit the heavy, blasting two home runs and driving in four in the ThunderWolves 6-4
night-cap win during last Saturday’s RMAC double-header at Fort Hays State. In the RMAC series sweep (4-0) at FHSU, he hit .333 (4-for-12) while
scoring a team-high six runs and driving in six (also a team high). Ramirez also slugged .917 (1 2B and 2 HR), posted a .429 on-base percentage
and was part of a Pack defense that turned five double plays (10 putouts, 11 assists). Colorado State-Pueblo bounced back from a four-game RMAC
split versus Metropolitan State on April 8-9 by sweeping Fort Hays State this past weekend. CSUP has now won 17 of its last 20 games against NCAA
Division II opponents (14-of-16 overall). This weekend marked the first time that a Stan Sanchez-coached team has achieved a sweep at FHSU. With
12 games (three 4-game series) remaining in the RMAC regular season, the T-Wolves are just one game back (14-2 RMAC, 25-18 overall) of fifthranked Mesa State (15-1 RMAC, 35-9 overall).
April 27th
Clint Cleland
Metropolitan State College of Denver
(6-2, Senior, SS)
(Cloverdale, Calif. - Cloverdale H.S.)
Cleland recorded a .667 batting average (12-for-18) with four doubles, a triple, home run, nine runs batted in and nine runs scored as the Roadrunners swept a four-games RMAC series at Colorado Mines on April 22-24. Cleland had at least two hits in each game of the RMAC set and contributed from his short stop position with six putouts and 11 assists. Metropolitan State has now won nine of its last 11 games to improve to 9-10 in the
RMAC and 24-23 overall. The Roadrunners received a vote in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region Top 10.April
27th
May 4th
Tim Masters
New Mexico Highlands University
(5-10, Senior, RF)
(Benicia, Calif. - Benicia H.S.)
Masters, who leads the RMAC in batting average (.430), drove in 11 runs in five games (No. 30 NMHU was 4-1) last week as he combined to go 10for-21 (.476 BA) with two doubles and a home run. He hit a grand slam homer in game three of an RMAC weekend series versus second-place
Colorado State-Pueblo, tying the score and sending the game to extra innings before the 30th-ranked Cowboys eventually lost, 13-8, in the 11th.
However, Masters and the Cowboys did take the series versus CSUP, three games to one, and, in the process, positioned themselves for a potential
No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tourney. He also scored five runs, walked once (.500 on-base pct.) and contributed defensively with seven
putouts in right field. Masters only has 13 strikeouts in 142 at-bats this season.
