A LOOK AT THE MAVERICKS
UT Arlington hosts Hardin-Simmons Monday in the first of 2 home games this week...the Mavericks come
into the game 3-1 after winning 74-65 at Houston Baptist Saturday...UTA will be looking to go 4-1 in the early
season for the first time in 2 years and if accomplished would be the 3rd time in the last 4 seasons to win at
least 4 of the first 5 games (5-0 in 2007-08)...the Mavs are a busy team in the early going as this is the 5th
game in the first 11 days of the season.

Tonight’s game is the 39th meeting between the schools...the series, which dates back to 1963, is tied at
19-19...the Mavericks have won the last 5 meetings dating back to 1988...the schools last played in 2008 and
UTA won that game 84-64 at Texas Hall...the Mavs lead the series in games played at home 12-7 and have
won the last 4 played at Texas Hall.
MAVERICKS HEAD COACH SCOTT CROSS
Scott Cross is in his 5th season as the head coach at UT Arlington...he has a career coaching record of 69-58
(.543)...Cross has a 2-0 career record vs. HSU...he has a career SLC regular season record of 32-32 and 3-3
in the conference tournament...Cross led the Mavericks to their first-ever NCAA Tournament in 2008 after
winning the Southland Conference Tournament...in 2008 he led his team to a school-record 21 victories and
his team completed a school record 17-game home winning streak (3 games in ‘07 and the first 14 of ‘08)...
Cross reached 50 wins faster than any coach in school history (90th game)...a 1998 graduate of UT Arlington,
Cross was a 2-time Academic All-American at his alma mater where he lettered 3 times from 1995-98.
LAST GAME - UTA 74, HOUSTON BAPTIST 65 - Nov. 20, 2010
LaMarcus Reed and Bo Ingram each scored 19 points to lead UT Arlington to a 74-65 victory over Houston
Baptist. Ingram also had 10 rebounds for the Mavericks (3-1). UTA went on a 13-4 run in the second half
to take control. The spurt was highlighted by two Darius Richardson 3-pointers and one by Ingram. Andrew
Gonzalez led Houston Baptist (0-3) with 27 points, including 14-for-14 from the free-throw line. Terry Bembry
added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Huskies. UTA committed 24 turnovers, but shot 49
percent from the field while holding Houston Baptist to 30 percent.

YOUNG GUNS
The Mavericks enter this season as one of the least experienced teams
in the nation as UTA has just 5 years of Division I experience heading
into the season (LaMarcus Reed - 2, Cameron Catlett, Jordan Reeves
and Armani Williams each with one)...that total is tied for the 2nd-fewest
in the nation with Sacramento State and is just behind Eastern Washington who just has 4 years of experience.

SHARP SHOOTERS
UTA has gotten off to a good start from the field this season, shooting
49.3% which leads the Southland Conference (UTSA is 2nd at 46.9%)...
the Mavs are also 3rd in the league in 3-point shooting at 40.5%...from
the line, the Mavericks lead the conference at 78%...after going just
7-11 from the line at Oregon State, UTA has shot 83.7% (36-43) in the last 2 games.

AT THE OTHER END OF THE FLOOR
While the Mavericks offense has been hot, the defense is keeping pace as well...UTA opponents are shooting
just 33.8% which is the 2nd-lowest mark in the Southland...the opponents have shot 33% or less in 3 of the
4 games and have not shot above 29% from 3-point range.
THE PASSING GAME
The Mavericks have registered more assists than their opponents in their first 4 games with Shaquille WhiteMiller leading the way with 5.0 pg...UTA had a season-low 9 at HBU after posting 20 vs. UTT in the previous
game...UTA has had at least turnovers 23 in 3 of the 4 games.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Last season when UTA scored 70 or more points UTA was 16-2 with the only losses being the 101-99 double
overtime game vs. North Texas and the 82-79 defeat at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the final regular season
game...this season that has proven true in the early going as they are 3-0 when doing so.
PUTTING IT IN THE ALL-TIME CHARTS
The Mavericks 14 3-pointers vs. UT Tyler tied for the 7th-highest total in school history and was just 2 off the
all-time best of 16 set against Texas State on Jan. 12, 1991...UTA also had one of the best nights in school
history from the foul line as they connected on 18-19 (94.7%)...that percentage is 7th on the all-time list and
3rd on the list in games in which the team has missed at least one free throws behind a .964 (27-28) game at
Houston on Feb. 22, 1968 and .952 (20-21) at Northwestern State on March 8, 2005.
LOOKING TO KEEP WINNING SEASON STREAK ALIVE
The Mavericks, and head coach Scott Cross, enter the 2010-11 season having posted 3 consecutive winning
seasons...this is the first time since the 1991 (20-9), ‘92 (16-13) and ‘93 (16-12) seasons the Mavs have accomplished this...the only other time this has happened in school history was 1980-82 when UTA went 14-13,
20-8 and 16-12...UTA has never had 4 consecutive winning seasons...the 53 wins the Mavericks have posted
during this stretch are the most in a 3-year span for the program that started in 1959-60.
MAVS NEW HOME - COLLEGE PARK CENTER - TAKING SHAPE
After years of waiting, the University of Texas at Arlington officially broke ground on its new $78 million College Park Center last March...the arena will seat 6,600 for basketball and volleyball and should be completed
in late 2011.
HOME AT THE HALL
UTA is 36-10 at home over the last 3+ seasons, which includes an 11-5 mark last season...UTA has posted
16 consecutive non-losing seasons at home (14 winning, 2 .500)...the last time UTA had a losing record at
home was 1993-94 (5-7).
FINAL FOUR COMING TO MAVERICKS HOMETOWN
The NCAA announced on Nov. 19, 2008 the 2014 Men’s Final Four will be played at Cowboys Stadium in
Arlington...the stadium, which is about a mile from UTA’s campus and is the host of Super Bowl XLV in February...the Dallas/Fort. Worth area last hosted the Final Four in 1986 at Reunion Arena.
