John B. Spadafore passed away this past week. His funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s
at 11:00am on Monday, September 26, 2016. Visitation plans are incomplete at the time
of this bulletin publishing, but please check the listing at Dorsey Funeral Home for the
complete funeral arrangements. Please keep John and his family in your thoughts and
prayers, and may John rest in the loving arms of Jesus forever.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard preparing, serving, delivering, manning the phones, and check
out for the Pizza Sale held this past Friday. The pizza was delicious.
Our annual Fall Spaghetti Dinner is this coming Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 11:00am
to 3:00pm. Prices for the meal (which includes: spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert
& a drink) are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children, ages 10 and under. Please come
and enjoy this wonderful social event and have some very delicious spaghetti and
meatballs.
There will be no religious education classes on Sunday, October 2, 2016 due to the spaghetti
dinner. Enjoy dinner with the kids.
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, a Blessing of Animals, will take place on
Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in St. Ann’s church parking lot. Bring your
pet animal on a leash or in a cage for this annual blessing ceremony.
There will be an informal informational gathering session next Thursday, October 6th, 2016
at 7:00pm in the Social Hall. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will begin in a few short
weeks, and anyone wishing to join the Catholic Faith or anyone interested in learning more about the
Catholic Faith is invited to attend this session. Forms will be available at this session for you to complete
if you are interested in attending RCIA.
There are currently four open hours in our Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. If you would like to
take one of the open hours, please call Mary K. at 304-592-2733 or 304-677-3420.

Effective October 1, 2016, the price for lighting a prayer candle in the church or chapel will be $3.00 per
candle. This cost is necessary simply to replace the candles and please remember that the $3.00 is a
“donation” not an obligation.
“God never closes off horizons; He is never unconcerned about the lives and sufferings of His children.
God never allows Himself to be outdone in generosity.” – Pope Francis
If you or someone in your family is ill, is in the hospital , or is in a nursing home, please let Fr. Tom know
so that he can come and visit.
Volunteeers from St. Ann’s are badly needed to support the St. Ann Teams who deliver Meals to the
needy every Monday. The deliveries begin at 9:00am and are usually completed by
10:30 or 11:00am. (Other church’s volunteers in the Shinnston area deliver on the
remaining days of the week, but Monday is St. Ann’s day to deliver). St. Ann’s
currently has only two full teams and one partial team to cover every Monday’s
deliveries throughout the month. Please consider helping…it is very rewarding, and
is so appreciated by the people who would otherwise have nothing to eat, if you
didn’t bring it to them. Call Mary Ann Ferris at 304-592-2061 if you can help.
If you would like to offer mass intentions for any loved one or friends who have passed
away or for anyone who is seriously ill, please consider doing so. Mass Intention cards
are available on tables at the entrance of the church. Please give the completed card and
stipend to Mary K. in the office or you can place the card and stipend in an envelope
“marked Mass Intention” and drop in the offertory basket at any collection.
