Penny will be attending the trustee meeting next Monday and looks forward to learning more
about family wellness.
Over the last 6 weeks we have seen some great community events and spirit within our school.
With the help of council, the school was able to host a story-telling event for our school
community. It was a great success. Jeff was a fantastic story-teller and I believe it would be
beneficial to hire him to work with the different grades to help them learn and enhance their
presentation skills and expand their creative thinking.
o Part of our purpose on council is to ensure the money being spent on activities such as
student wellness and community nights allows for capacity building and leadership.
Bringing someone like Jeff Stockton in will not only benefit our present students but will
also teach our teachers new skills and enable them to teach their students such skills in
years to come.
A decision was made regarding Christmas craft day. We have decided to not have an artist in
residence due the Christmas craft day next year. With regard to Gail Bartel, we do enjoy many of
her crafts within the classroom and will continue to book her for Oct. and May: where she will
teach the students and teachers her skills and crafts. As she is booked for this May, we will
continue to have her come with a fixed quote with regard to her week’s payment. However, we
will have to shift the budget around slightly.
Fundraising: Karen and Janice have done a fabulous job on the brochure however, we have run
into a few hiccups over the last few weeks. Basically the Calgary Catholic would like us to edit a
few things and then it will be hopefully sent out asap. In the meantime, perhaps we flip our
coop cards and do that now.
A big thanks to everyone who helped with shrove Tuesday. It was a great success! The Knights
were fantastic and we hope to be able to use them in many other social events. Julia, thank you
for organizing.
Lillian, last but not least, thank you for taking the time to apply for one of the school grants last
month. It was greatly appreciated.
