Darrelle Revis a no-show at Robert Kraft’s Super Bowl ring ceremony (Kimberley A. Martin)

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft hosted a ring ceremony at his house Sunday evening for his
2014 Super Bowl team. But there was one noticeable absence: Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Revis, who re-signed with the Jets in March after helping the Patriots beat Seattle in the 2015 Super Bowl,
did not attend Kraft's shindig because he had a scheduling conflict, according to a source. But the Patriots
wouldn't even allow a Revis family member to go in his stead.
According to sources, Revis' mother, Diana Askew, planned to take her son's place at the ceremony. But
only after flying to Boston was she told that she would not be able to serve as a substitute for her son.
Revis' cousin, Jimmy Moore, tweeted details before later deleting the post.
"Darrelle's mom is not at the ring ceremony bc she was told by the Patriots, after flying to NE that the
ticket was 'non transferable,' " Moore wrote.
According to the Boston Globe, a Patriots spokesman said Revis' mom did not show up at Kraft's home
and she was "not turned away." One of the sources said that Askew is expected to receive Revis' ring
sometime Monday before she flies back home.

Darrelle Revis, who rejoined the New England Patriots for their recent celebratory visit to the White
House, will not be with his former teammates Sunday at a Super Bowl ring ceremony at Robert Kraft's
home near Boston, sources said.
The star cornerback, who bolted the Patriots to sign a $70 million contract with the New York Jets this
offseason, is unable to attend because of a prior commitment. He will be represented at Kraft's house,
however. Going on his behalf will be his mother, Diana Askew.
This has become somewhat of a Patriots tradition. Kraft held the ring ceremony at his house after their
2004 and 2005 Super Bowl titles. The invitation from the owner included players now on other teams. It's
not clear if Jets running back Stevan Ridley, who played four seasons for the Patriots, will attend.
Revis played only one season in New England, but he was a vital member of the team. Conspiracy theorists
will wonder if Revis decided to stay away to avoid a potentially awkward situation, considering comments
he made recently to the New York Daily News. Addressing DeflateGate, Revis was quoted as saying, "[The
Patriots] have a history of doing stuff. You can’t hide that. ... Tom [Brady] was there when they did that
stuff in the past. ... Stuff repeatedly happened through the years. You got Spygate, you got this and that
and everything else.”
Revis' prior commitment for Sunday was made some time ago and couldn't be changed, a source said.

Why Darrelle Revis is skipping Patriots’ ring ceremony (Brian Costello)
New York Post
June 14, 2015
http://nypost.com/2015/06/14/why-darrelle-revis-is-skipping-patriots-ring-ceremony/
A reunion between Darrelle Revis and the Patriots is going to have to wait until the season.
The Jets cornerback was not going to attend the Super Bowl ring ceremony at Patriots owner Robert
Kraft’s house near Boston on Sunday night, according to a source. Revis had a scheduling conflict that had
been previously scheduled, which he could not get out of. He was sending his mother, Diana Askew, in his
place, the source said.
Revis spent one season with the Patriots, helping them beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX in February.
A month later he bolted and rejoined the Jets as a free agent, landing a $70 million contract from the team
that drafted him in 2007.
Revis has seen his former teammates since leaving for the Jets. He attended the team’s visit to the White
House in April. He will see them again on Oct. 25, when the Jets travel to New England.

Eric Decker: Jets’ most important player No. 10 (Darryl Slater)
NJ Advance Media
June 15, 2015
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/06/eric_decker_jets_most_important_player_no_10.html
Now that the Jets have wrapped up organized team activities and minicamp, they get a break until training
camp begins in late July. So this seems like a good time to take stock of their roster.
Just like we did last year before training camp, we will count down the Jets' most important players for
2015. But this time around, we have expanded our list from the top six to the top 10. We'll list one player
each weekday for the next two weeks.
"Most important" is obviously a subjective thing. Among the considerations we took into account when
compiling these rankings: the player's individual skills, the value of his position on the offense or defense
(all positions aren't created equal), and how doomed the Jets would be if he sustained an injury that
sidelined him for a long period of time.
As we mentioned last year, "best" and "most important" are two entirely different things. A team's most
important player isn't always its best player.
Do you agree with our rankings? Disagree? Wonder if we can even count backwards from 10? Leave your
thoughts, throughout this two-week countdown, in the comments section down below.
Let's get this year's countdown rolling with the Jets' No. 10 most important player for 2015.
Name: Eric Decker
Position: Wide receiver
Key stat: In last year's season finale, Decker caught 10 passes (on 11 targets) for 221 yards and one
touchdown — a strong conclusion to his first year with the Jets.
Strengths: Decker isn't the fastest or biggest receiver. But he has long been considered a detailed and
precise route runner. A hamstring injury slowed him early last season, but once he got healthy, he was
able to really showcase his skills. Two games before that 221-yard outburst, Decker had a seven-catch,
100-yard game. The Jets' season was already doomed by that point, but Decker's late, strong
performances provided early encouragement for 2015. Decker has a reputation as a good blocking
receiver, but Pro Football Focus rated him just 62nd among receivers, as a blocker, in 2014. He was 24th
in PFF's overall wide receiver ratings, and 23rd as a pass catcher among wide receivers.
Weaknesses: He's not a huge deep-ball threat. Of his 110 targets last year, just 19 came on throws 20
yards or farther down the field, according to PFF. Ten of those balls were deemed catchable, and Decker
hauled in seven of them (including two for touchdowns). He dropped the other three. While Decker did
rank 16th in the NFL last year in PFF's yards per pass route run (a measure of efficiency), he finished with
eight total drops, tied for 11th among receivers. He also had eight drops in Denver in 2013, but was
targeted 25 times more that year, compared to 2014. Decker had the luxury of Peyton Manning throwing
him passes in Denver, and Demaryius Thomas playing on the other side. Defenses had to honor the
presence of Thomas. With the Jets last year, Decker got a struggling second-year quarterback, Geno Smith,
and no consistent receiving threat on the other side of the field. Decker went from one extreme to the
other. This year, Decker gets to play opposite receiver Brandon Marshall. Will that help Decker, even
though he still doesn't have an elite quarterback with the Jets?
3|Page
Daily Clips Cont.
Why he's so important: Decker and Marshall will have to work hand-in-hand, so that both receivers
perform effectively enough for defenses to not roll coverage toward the other receiver. This was an issue
for Decker last season. He should get more honest looks in 2015. No NFL team is going to excel without
at least two pretty good receivers. The Jets appear to have a strong enough tandem with Decker and
Marshall. Can both stay healthy? An injury to either could significantly damage the Jets' passing game,
which has been their biggest weakness (by far) in recent years. Decker might go a long way toward
changing that, especially if he plays for most of this season like he did late last year. He wound up finishing
26th in the NFL in receiving yards last season, with 962. Marshall's presence could mean Decker improves
upon that number in 2015. But even if he doesn't, he and Marshall should combine for more receiving
yards than Decker and the Jets' No. 2 receiver, Jeremy Kerley, did last season, when Kerley amassed 409.

Darrelle Revis not attending New England Patriots’ ring ceremony (Dom Cosentino)
NJ Advance Media
June 14, 2015

The Patriots are getting their Super Bowl rings Sunday night at owner Robert Kraft's home, but one
prominent member of their championship team from last season won't be there: Jets cornerback Darrelle
Revis.
Revis, who signed a free-agent deal to re-join the Jets in March, had a prior commitment Sunday that
couldn't be changed. His mother, Diana Askew, will be going in his place, a league source confirmed,
though Askew wound up not going after all (see below).
Word that Revis would skip the Patriots' affair at Kraft's home was first reported by Rich Cimini of ESPN
New York.
Revis at Kraft's house with the rest of the Patriots might have made for a bit of awkwardness in the buffet
line. The Jets and Patriots are bitter rivals, and since re-joining the Jets in the wake of Deflategate, Revis
told the New York Daily News the Pats have "a history of doing stuff." Not exactly a great conversation
starter at a party like the one the Pats are having Sunday night.
Revis earned his Super Bowl ring during his only year with the Patriots. He and another current Jet and exPatriot, running back Stevan Ridley, did go to the White House with the Pats back in April for the annual
champions' visit with President Obama. No word on whether Ridley planned to be at Kraft's place Sunday
night.

Darrelle Revis won’t have to discuss his recent DeflateGate comments with Patriots owner Robert Kraft
just yet.

Revis did not attend the ring ceremony at Kraft’s house on Sunday due to a prior engagement, but his
mother was there on his behalf, according to a source. Members of the Patriots organization received
their rings for their Super Bowl win at the ceremony at Kraft’s house.
Revis was a key component in the Patriots’ Super Bowl XLIX run, but quickly departed after the season to
join his old team, the Jets. Revis signed a five-year, $70 million contract that included $39 million in
guarantees in March.
In May, Revis didn’t shed the most flattering light on the Patriots in speaking with the Daily News about
DeflateGate.
“(The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that.… Tom (Brady) was there when they did
that stuff in the past,” Revis said at the time.
The star cornerback did attend the Patriots’ trip to the White House in April.

Jets players, fans want second act from ‘Fireman Ed’ (Kristian Dyer)
Metro New York

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- From Quincy Enunwa's IPhone screen to hopefully once again on the big screen at
MetLife Stadium.
There's a hope among Jets fans that famed fan “Fireman Ed” will make a return this year as the leader of
the “J-E-T-S!” chant as the once face of the franchise has been missing from his once prominent role on
gameday. For years Ed Anzalone, a retired New York City firefighter, was a renowned personality at the
Meadowlands as he was the ringleader of the Jets fanbase, his shaved head and steely eyes glaring into a
camera as he would whip the stadium into a frenzy.
But Anzalone retired three years ago due to threats received at the stadium from people who associated
him as an extension of the franchise and not just a fellow fan. Earlier this year, however, he hinted that a
comeback might be in the making and two weeks ago at a charity event for Muhammad Wilkerson's
organization, Anzalone led several hundred fans in attendance in the chant.
The moment was captured by second year Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, who filmed Anzalone's
theatrics on his cell phone then posted the video to his Instagram account. Enunwa recognized Anzalone's
face from having seen it on television before but wasn't sure if it was, in fact, the tried and true “Fireman
Ed.”
His hunch was later confirmed by Jets fans.
“I think any football fan for a longtime knows who he is,” Enunwa told Metro last week. “But when you
see him in person, you're not sure. Just like people, when they see us out in person, they don't always
recognize us.”
The Jets’ young wide receiver was impressed with how Anzalone was able to whip the offseason fanbase
back into it's glory, this after seeing it firsthand at the bowling alley.
5|Page
Daily Clips Cont.
Anzalone calls it the greatest chant in professional sports and when he leads it, it really is goosebump
stuff.
Since he was forced to leave his role as 'Fireman Ed' due to the threats, he has continued to go to games
and hopes that a younger fan will take up the mantle and lead the chant. But the Jets have struggled to
find an adequate replacement, someone with the same moxie as Anzalone. It is clear that, at least right
now, if the Jets want a good atmosphere at MetLife Stadium they'll need to recruit Anzalone back.
“It kind of gets you ready for the season, it's early but it gets you in the mood,” Enunwa said. “I think it'll
definitely put the fans into the game more [if he comes back]. Us doing well wouldn't hurt. Having
'Fireman Ed' out there though would definitely help.”
There is even a website, BringBackEd.com with an online petition imploring Anzalone to make a
comeback. With optimism high around the Jets following their strong offseason as well as a good haul
from the NFL Draft, Anzalone's return would only add optimism to a fanbase that is all too familiar with
suffering.
And while Enunwa is just beginning his education on “Fireman Ed,” he said he wouldn't mind running out
of the tunnel come Week 1 with Anzalone leading the chant.
“Anybody who can incite the crowd at a bowling alley like that, well, imagine what he can do with a
stadium full of people?” Enunwa said. “That'd be awesome to have that.”
