RHAME AVENUE INTERNATIONAL LUNCHEON Mr. Schlange's third grade class at Rhame Ave. School gave an International Luncheon and parents were invited to participate. The luncheon was an introduction to a social studies unit on Man and His Surroundings and was an outgrowth of a discussion of eating customs in different parts of the world, including how and what people eat and how the eating customs of the Europeans differ from those of the Chinese and Arabians. The students researched their backgrounds and drew flags and placemats representing the different ethnic cultures. Then each child brought in a dish to represent the culture. Before eating, the class located the countries on the map and told some pertinent information about each country. The food was delicious and represented many countries. From Italy, Angelo Musto brought in Eggplant Parmigiana, Joe Catalan© brought in homemade Italian pastries, and Richard DeMatteo brought in Ziti.
