F
or many people, January represents a
fresh start. Lose 20 pounds. Be more
organized. Spend less money. Go Green.
By February, resolutions often falter. KMM can’t
help you keep all of your resolutions, but we
can help you save money and go green. We
work with employers, commuters, elected officials, community groups, and other partners
to implement programs that reduce congestion,
increase safety, and improve air quality.
KMM offers a comprehensive package of services, incentives, information, and recognition
to help employers make it easier for employees
to get to work. All of these are available at no
cost to you or your employees.
Assessments
Vanpool Sponsorship program provided by
NJ Transit or may qualify for an Empty Seat
Subsidy to get the vanpool up and running.
And, KMM’s Green Commuter Rewards program links participants to rebates for online
purchases at hundreds of stores.
Information Notification Network
(INN)
Our most popular service, the INN provides
real time information about road conditions,
mass transit information, community information, emergencies, and weather. Subscribers
select the specific roadways, communities,
and level of information that work for them.
Mass Transit
KMM’s experienced professionals will assess
the transportation needs of your company and
employees, identify appropriate options, and
recommend an implementation plan.
KMM’s Transit Guide to Middlesex County
connects commuters to where they want to go
via mass transit. Our Interactive Transit Map
points commuters to park and rides, historic
sites, and other information.
Commuter Services
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
KMM uses state of the art technology to assist
employees in finding long or short term carpool
and vanpool partners. Employees can create
profiles, identify potential matches, track daily
commuting, and register for special events
and contests.
Incentives
To address unexpected illness or overtime,
KMM offers qualifying rideshare commuters
up to three Emergency Rides Home each
year. Vanpool participants may benefit from the
Earth Day, Bike to Work Week, and Carfree
Week are just a few of the ways KMM supports walking and bicycling. Our Middlesex
County Bicycling Guide is a favorite among
bicyclists. And, we handle rental of bike lockers at NJ Transit sites in Middlesex County.
Recognition
KMM participates in the NJ Smart Workplaces
Awards program. Qualified employers are
recognized annually at one of four levels –
bronze, silver, gold, or platinum.

Car Free in 2013
oing Car Free was a blast this year. Why? Because KMM, along
with over 300 commuters, did so live and on the air with WCTC
1450 and New Brunswick’s Jimmy John’s franchise owner,
Nick Olson. Everyone who participated was entered to win a host of
prizes including a $50 gift card from Magyar Bank, Heldrich Spa Gift
Certificate, State Theater New Brunswick Tickets, Rutgers Football
Ticket Basket, and Fragrance Basket from Firmenich. Special thanks
to Greater Media, Hyatt New Brunswick, and all of our very generous
sponsors!
“Since I commute 55 miles to my place of employment, using
a car is necessary. However, I bring my lunch to work and use
containers that can be washed to avoid additional waste. I also
use my KMM tote bag from last year, along with other reusable
bags when I shop.”
– Linda M., New Millenium Bank
“For KMM’s Car Free Week, I packed lunch every day—normally
I drive all over to get lunch. Making the effort saved me time,
money and most importantly, heartburn! The best thing is, I have
continued to bring lunch to work; it’s a good habit that started
as a result of going car free for the week! Thank you KMM.”

Super Bowl Understand Your Transportation Options
If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to the Super Bowl, be sure to know the transportation
options available to you. Organizers have dubbed the February 2nd game the first “public
transportation” Super Bowl, and they mean it. Only those who have pre-purchased parking
permits will be able to park at the stadium. No drop-offs or pick-ups will be allowed on game
day. However, Fan Express Buses will operate from various remote locations.
Those without game day parking permits may wish to purchase a Super Pass from NJ
TRANSIT. Valid for unlimited travel on all NJ Transit trains, buses and light rail, including
trips to and from Newark Liberty International Airport and New York City, between January
27 and February 3, a Super Pass costs $50.

Additional Vanpool Subsidy During Pulaski Skyway Rehabilitation
There’s great news for those who drive the Pulaski Skyway to work. For the duration of the project, which began on January 1, qualified
vanpools originating in or destined for certain areas of Hoboken and Jersey City will be eligible for an additional subsidy under NJ TRANSIT’s Vanpool Sponsorship Program. Vanpools eligible for the increased benefit must start or end in one of these Hoboken or Jersey City
zip codes: 07030, 07037, 07306, 07310,07302, 07304, or 07305.

Fall Was for Walking and Biking in Middlesex County
eep Middlesex Moving helped to organize 22 Walk to School
Day events in 13 Middlesex County towns in the first two weeks
of October. Events took place in the small towns of Spotswood
and Dunellen, suburbs of Piscataway and East Brunswick, and urban
center of Perth Amboy. Over 5,000 schoolchildren participated and
received stickers, bookmarks, and reflective zipper pulls. Eight lucky
schools also received Clif Kids kits with fruit snacks and MORE stickers and worksheets!
KMM was also proud to play a part in helping to organize New Brunswick’s first Ciclovia! This day-long event, held on Sunday October 6,
closed three miles of city streets to motor vehicles and opened them
to people walking and biking. Activity centers at the New Brunswick
Teen Center on Joyce Kilmer Avenue and George Street and at the
Rutgers College Avenue Gym provided free open-air fitness classes
and information. Many community partners helped to make this event
happen, including the City of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Tomorrow, Johnson and Johnson, Robert Wood Johnson and St. Peter’s
hospitals, Rutgers University, and many more. We look forward to future
events in the years to come! Events like Ciclovia play an important
role in fostering a walking and biking culture in New Brunswick and
Middlesex County for all residents – young and old.
