St Louis is 70!
St Louis Nursing Home was established on it’s current site in
Foster St Parkside in 1946 by Dorothy Mary Naish.
Dorothy ‘s son Tony ran the business from late 60s to late
90s when the current Administrator—Maris (Tony’s son)
took over .
In the early days St Louis Nursing home agisted
cattle in the Parklands for the fee of 1pound/
year. The cattle provided milk for the nursing
home residents and returned every night to the
yards on Blyth St behind the nursing home—
now occupied by St Louis On Blyth,
Independent Living Units. Maybe that’s why St
Louis’ roses bloom so well!

ST LOUIS NURSING HOME, HOME CARE AND LIFESTYLES
It’s time to celebrate 70 years of St Louis!
News from Maris our Administrator
Dear Residents, Clients, Families and Friends,
It's been another busy year for St Louis. This year marked a new Chapter with the opening
of our Victor Harbor Home Care Office followed by building work at the Nursing home to
increase the number of single ensuite rooms on offer and the commissioning of our new St
Louis buses-along with many new residents clients and staff to welcome.
With our 70th anniversary upon us it seems an opportune time to thank you all for your
support and to encourage you all to let us know if you are aware of any areas for
improvements so that we can work together to provide the best possible care for all our
clients and residents long into the future.
Wishing you and your families a very Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!

SUMMER NEWSLETTER
At the time of newsletter preparation the Nursing
Home was abuzz with Christmas preparations! Our
home is looking sensational with all Christmas lights
and decorations.
We are greatly enjoying the freedom that comes with
having our own transport along with the opportunity to
go further afield than we could reasonably manage
with Access Cabs. Please have a look at the regularly
posted weekly program for outings that may interest
you and let Anne know if you are keen to give the bus
a try—or if you have ideas of places you may like to go!
Our celebrations include the regular performance by
the Unley Christmas Choir who sang many beautiful
carols for us last week, our Carols Night to be held
tonight as a joint celebration with residents, families
and staff and their families. The resident’s Christmas
lunch was on Friday 23rd November . So
there has been a lot happening!
In November our residents marked Melbourne Cup
with a luncheon of Prawn cocktails, King George
Whiting, salad and chips and Strawberries Romanoff,
with numerous sweeps and of course watching the race
At this years Remembrance Day service we were very
lucky to have a piper for our service. Many thanks to
Andrew for giving up his time on this very special
We also have a new bus driver (and driver trainer
extraordinaire) —Frank Toner—joining us on staff.
We hope you will all make Frank welcome - see
the back page for more about Frank - and Mike
who will be driving for Victor Harbor trips. If you
occasion.
