TO HONORARY
DEGREES
1 The Committee 0 Honorary Degrees shall be appointed by the
President of Or gon State College: and s:ball consist of five
members, each 0 whomholds the rank of associate professor
or higher in th staff ai: the College. Members of this committee shall be anonymous and sheLII rematn so during the
term of their a pointment. To provide for continuity of experienced perso el, the tenns of appointment of the newly

Dean Crossen commen d em the reconunendation and the consaderations the conunittee had in mind. He moved the adoption of the
recommendation~· The ot acn was secondsd , President Strand
called for discussi n and a number 0 f points were brought up
and considered.
Pr s i.derrt Strand said that if the council
members wished to p stpone action, a vote could be deLayed
until a later meetd, g. It appeared that most of the me:.nbers
were ready to vote.
By vote the Faculty Council then approved
the recorrunendation n plJlicy in awarding honorary degrees •.

ONDr. Dietz was then ~allied on to present a .progress report of
SUPERIOR
the special ComlllittEfeo:n Superior Students e. HE~ introduced the
STUDENTS members of the committee who were present and mentioned Dr.Sherburne, chairman of the Student Personnel Council, who had
been of' great help ,0 the conunitteels, work. He distributed
copies of a sheet h.sting the char-act.er'Lstdcs of the superior
or gifted student a!d a bibliography of five titles.
He described the work and thinking of the committee.
He said the
American Assocaatdon of' University Professors had cooperated
wi th the committee •. Some departments have been experimenting
