ELGIN MAN GETS 15-YEAR SENTENCE FOR MOLESTING FOUR GIRLS
January 20, 2012
An Elgin man has pleaded guilty to sexually preying with four minors he knew.
Jose L. Jaramillo, 59 (d.o.b. 3-27-1952), of the 300 block of North Jackson Street,
Elgin, on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, agreed with the Kane County State’s Attorney to a
sentence of 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty
plea to one count predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, and three
counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, each a Class 2 felony. Circuit Judge
David R. Akemann accepted the plea.
Between Dec. 2, 2000, and May 19, 2010, Jaramillo had sexual contact with four
minor girls he knew. Each of the girls was younger than 13 years old when sexual
contact took place.
Jaramillo was sentenced to 15 years for the predatory charged and a total of seven
years each for the sexual abuse charges. The sentences are to be served
concurrently.
According to Illinois law, Jaramillo must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He
was given credit for at least 608 days served in the Kane County jail, where he had
been held since his arrest in lieu of $500,000 bail.
The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Nydia Molina.
