Lani Morris has over 20 years’ experience of working as an independent organisational
behaviour practitioner with organisations and individuals in New Zealand, Australia and the
United Kingdom and as a contract lecturer at universities and tertiary institutions. The key
focus of her work is to help people reclaim power over themselves, their lives and their work.
Her expertise includes: leadership; motivation; clear communication; innovation & creativity;
meaningful work, and how these subjects intertwine to empower people throughout an
organisation. Since 2000 she has used the Map of Meaning to enrich these areas of expertise.
Lani is a Founding Director of the Holistic Development Group and co-author with Professor
Marjolein Lips-Wiersma of The Map of Meaning: A Guide to Sustaining our Humanity in the
World of Work.

2013 – 2015 Leading peer learning groups in action research methodology at Eastern
Institute of Technology
2002 – 2015 Introducing the Map of Meaning in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom
and creating a college of graduates
2006 – 2015 Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School – designed and delivering an action-research
leadership paper for performing arts students
2005 Facilitated full staff involvement in the strategic planning for the Eastern Institute
of Technology, Hawke’s Bay, NZ
2000 Founded Holistic Development Group (with Patricia Greenhough, Marjolein LipsWiersma), to take the Map of Meaning into the world.
1990– 2015 Keynote speaker on Leadership, Communication, Meaningful work, Motivation
and Creativity and Innovation.
1986 – 2015 Designed and delivered a range of interventions, including Belbin Team Analysis,
the use of systems methodologies for analysing customer service, etc., for a
diverse selection of organisations. Drew on ability to understand and work with
people at all levels in these organisations, through events such as restructuring
and rapid growth. 1990 – 2014. Designed and delivered tailored programmes
such as a post-graduate university paper on Organisational Communication,
a national programme on Leadership, and workshops on communication, and
motivation to clients from CEOs at a retreat, to inmates in prison.
ACHIEVEMENTS
2011 Co-author of The Map of Meaning: A Guide to Sustaining our Humanity in the
World of Work, Greenleaf, UK.
2009 – 2013 Co-author of academic papers and book chapters on meaningful work,
leadership, and meaningful careers
1972 – 1987 Creator and owner of a textile art business selling to top fashion designers and
stores in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Won the ANZ Fabric Art Award in
1983 and a QEII award in 1984. Subject of an hour long television documentary.
Work held in private collections of Indira Ghandi, Roslyn Carter and Margaret
Whitlam.
1969 – 72 First woman to produce INSIGHT Radio Documentaries
