Personal objective for the teacher –
Choose a different student to help me at each point during the lesson. I want to get the students more
involved in the lesson so they will become more interested in what they are doing. Give feedback to
the students.
Connections NASPE Standard 1:
Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of
physical activities.
VA SOL- Skilled Movement
9.1 The student will perform all basic movement skills and demonstrate competence in at least two
self-selected, lifelong, skill-related physical activities from individual, dual, or team game/sport,
dance, and recreational pursuit categories.
a) Apply competencies in all locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills to appropriate
game/sport, dance, and recreational activities.
b) Design, implement, evaluate, and modify a plan for at least two self-selected, lifelong, skillrelated
physical activities. Key concepts include analysis of performance, application of
principles of movement and training, and focus on goal setting and improvement of personal
skills.
The student will use basic movement skills and demonstrate at least two selected and skill-related
physical activity from the team game. Punting the football is a element that the team might use to
change field position.
Context The students should know how to catch a football. They should know how to get in an athletic stance.
This lesson is a part of understanding the whole game of football. This lesson has to do with how
teams can make it harder for teams to score if they can’t pick up a 1st down in their attempts.
AdaptationsThere are no students with adaptations.

5 Footballs
Safety If the ball is punted too hard it could hit the ceiling then fall down and hit another student. In the
demonstration to the class I will have the students not use so much leg power in the punt.
Instructional Plan –
Opening: Hello class! Today we will be learning how to properly punt the football. This is important
for later on when we play flag football when you get to four down and don’t want to turn the ball over
on down and want to make it harder for the opposing team to school you would perform this strategy.
You are going to catch the ball first, then spin the ball so that the laces are facing up and facing you,
then take two steps but take the first step with your dominant foot, then extend the ball on your second
step, then drop the ball out over your foot and have your foot straight out so that your shoe laces of
your shoe kick the ball and try to strike the ball with the outside of your shoe.

be asked of the students.
I will ask a student go give an example of one of the five cues I will ask them what each cues are in
order and ask a student to demonstrate them.
The student will as so be able to answer: Why is punting the ball important in football?
It is important because it changes the field position when a team can not pick up the 1st down on 4th
down.
Student Assessment A student will be asked to demonstrate the five cues and then a student will answer the question that
was asked before they leave the class.
