Mrs Becky Breen Religious Education Leader TERM 3 SOCIAL JUSTICE Catholic Social Teaching Focus: The Common Good Scripture Focus: Blessed are the poor in spirit Matthew 5: 2-3 FEAST OF MARY OF THE CROSS This week we celebrate the Feast of Mary of the Cross. Australia’s first saint. We reflect on Mary Mackillop’s tremendous achievements in education and work in the community throughout Australia over a hundred years ago. She often worked under the most difficult and challenging circumstances. Mary Mackillop’s endurance, coupled with her compassion and leadership touched many people’s lives, leaving a legacy that endures today. Mary bought the message of human dignity to all she encountered. May we all follow Mary’s example of faith, commitment in these times of change and uncertainty. Prayer Holy God, source of all goodness, you show us in Mary Mackillop a woman of faith who lived by the power of the cross.
