"Remember an Angel, Swing for a Survivor”
7th Annual Golf Tournament
In Loving Memory of Alec James Kahler
On Saturday, August 8, 2015, we will once again be hosting our “Remember An Angel, Swing
for a Survivor” golf outing supporting the much needed research for Congenital Heart Defects.
We have held this event now for six years in memory of our youngest son, Alec James Kahler,
who passed away from a heart defect in 2008. In my heart, I wonder if there had been more
research, would Alec have had a better chance of survival.
Statistics show 1 out of every 125 babies is born with a congenital heart defect, yet children’s
heart defect research is grossly under-funded relative to the prevalence of the disease. The
Children's Heart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. It is the only
National non-profit organization that exclusively funds the research of congenital heart
defects.
Since Alec's death, our mission in life is to help another family never experience the anguish of
losing a child to a congenital heart defect. Over the past six years, "Remember An Angel,
Swing For a Survivor" has helped raise over $180,000 in Alec's memory to go to The Children's
Heart Foundation and congenital heart research. This year, we are excited to host our 7th
annual event at Butler's Golf Course in Elizabeth, PA. We would be most grateful to have you
join us as a sponsor or to donate an in-kind item that may be used the day of the event as an auction
item to help raise funds. Like my own son, thousands of innocent children die every year as a
result of congenital heart defects. Your partnership can help us make a difference for so many
