Right to Life League In Memoriam: Mrs. Elizabeth Goodwin Peacock On the morning of Friday, December 2, 2011, members of the Right to Life League gathered with the family of Founder, Elizabeth “Libby” Goodwin Peacock, to celebrate her life and legacy at Our Lady Queen of the Angels, Newport Beach. Libby died peacefully on November 25, 2011 and will be forever commemorated as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and defender of Life. Libby was the second of four daughters, born to David Murphy and Zoa McGuire Murphy on April 15, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Detroit and received a Master’s Degree in Medical Social Work from St. Louis University. Since then, she has never backed away from the challenge to protect the most innocent and defenseless among us. Libby pressed forward the causes of those who needed a voice: the sick, the poor and the unborn. She was the founding President of the Mission Doctors Association of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, President of the Archdiocesan Council of Women, and founding member of the Right to Life League of Southern California. Libby and William Goodwin, M.D. were married for 50 years. They were blessed with eight children, Mary Vanis (Dr. Richard), Ann Raney (Dr. Aidan), Bridget Desmond (Patrick), Joan Hull (Fletcher), T. Murphy Goodwin, M.D. (Joanne), Margaret Jacoby (Mark) and Moira Duffy (Tom). After Bill’s death, Libby married John Peacock, who was her great companion until his death. She was preceded in death by her sisters Patricia and Joan and her son, William James Goodwin, who is survived by her sister, Maurna Donovan. Libby was protector and role model to 45 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, each of whom knew and loved her. The League is establishing a fund in Libby’s honor that we plan to report on each year. Your gift to Libby’s Memorial Fund is accepted in her honor. Donations can be sent using the enclosed envelope or by visiting the Libby Goodwin Peacock Memorial Fund page at www.rtllsc.org. The most that you can do is pray for protection over the clinic. We are a front line ministry and need that prayer.” -Director, Laura Jensen From Our Executive Director, Anne Hennessy Dear Friends, Our Annual Life Issues Conference is fast approaching. It is going to be an enlightening afternoon with notable speakers offering their wisdom and expertise on the latest Life Issues. We will be presented with fresh ways to dialogue with audiences of several kinds. ELEV8 will take up the issue of sexual abstinence and show a groundbreaking way that teen integrity principles are being made accessible in junior high and high schools. The issue of paid egg donation will be brought to the table, so that we may discover why this is a crucial point of concern, particularly for college-aged women. Please join us. For, it is not enough to want to save lives; we must be thoroughly equipped. - Anne `tç à{x _ÉÜw zÜtÇà çÉâ [|á zÜtvx tÇw xäxÜç uÄxáá|Çz |Ç ECDE
