South Campus Fall Preview
launching an exciting Fall season of
disciple-building opportunities.
Earlier this year, Pastor Jason led
us through a re-visioning process in
order to highlight Bethlehem’s core
values. To further advance our vision
and values at the South Campus,
we invite you to join us in three
areas: Gospel Welcoming, Gospel
Gathering, and Gospel Growing.
Dear South Congregation,
Aslan is on the move … at the
South Campus.
Aslan is the main character in the
C.S. Lewis series, The Chronicles of
Narnia. In this fictional story he is
the great lion who represents Jesus
Christ and is first mentioned by
Mr. Beaver, who tells the Pevensie
children (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and
Lucy) that “Aslan is on the move.”
We believe that God is on the move
among our South Campus family.
The South Campus pastors, staff,
and elders are working hard toward
Gospel Welcoming – We want
to cultivate the ethos of a Gospel
Welcome to all who join us—guests,
regulars, and members. This is what
the Apostle Paul meant when he
wrote in Romans 15:7, “Welcome one
another as Christ has welcomed you,
for the glory of God.” If we want to
reflect the character of Christ and
live out the gospel, we must be able
to welcome one another, especially
when we gather for worship.
Gospel Gathering – We aim to
gather and enfold people into our
South Campus community. We’re
not satisfied for people to just be
attenders. We desire that those who
come through our doors experience
true Christian community through
small groups, baptism/membership,
“life on life” activities, and elder care.
We want people to have the opportunity to exercise their spiritual gifts as
we serve one another for the building
up of the church.
Gospel Growing – We aim to grow
together in the grace and knowledge
of Christ (2 Peter 3:18) while also
growing in numbers as the Lord
draws people to himself. We believe
that God wants us to grow in grace
as we extend his grace to more and
more people—and our desire is that
they would worship God and give
thanks to him (2 Corinthians 4:15).
Consider even now how you might
be a part of upcoming ministry
opportunities. I hope you are
encouraged. Aslan is on the move!
Pray that God would grant us grace
to model the gospel in welcoming,
gathering, and growing together for
his glory and the joy of his people.
In His Grace and for His glory,
Chuck Steddom,
Lead Pastor, South Campus
