Fire - escape
Write some sentences about these pictures which depict some ways of
escaping from and /or extinguishing a fire.
It is a good idea to have a fire extinguisher in your home to
put out fires. We have fire extinguishers in schools for that purpose.
When escaping from a burning building, get down as low as possible to
avoid breathing too much smoke. Cover your mouth with a
handkerchief as you crawl to the door.
If your clothes catch fire, we can generally put the fire out by rolling on
the ground especially if you have a rug to put around you first.
Every house should be fitted with a WORKING smoke alarm.
Finish these verb families.

Why is it important to keep low to the floor when escaping from a fire in a house?
Heat and smoke rise. In a house fire the smoke will suffocate you because you cannot
breathe. It is best to keep low to the floor where the air is coolest and most smoke free.
Explain the “fire escape plan” for your school.
Draw a diagram to show the exit route from your classroom.
