A Little Taste of Russia
Community Members learned some basic Russian, and were given the opportunity to make homemade perogies.
Perogies are filled dumplings and are made by wrapping pockets of unleavened dough around a savory or sweet
filling, boiling, and then frying them. The best part, of course, was getting to eat our perogies afterwards!

V!VA Mississauga Cooks Up a Trophy!
At the end of October, the inaugural V!VA Chopped Challenge was hosted by Gordon Food Services. V!VA Culinary
Teams from across Southern Ontario were given an hour to prepare a dish from a box of surprise ingredients which
were then sampled and scored by a panel of judges. Congratulations to Bryan and Christine for representing V!VA
Mississauga in the V!VA Chopped Challenge and winning!

V!VA Chopped Champs
Five Year Milestone
Thanks Kaiwen
Congratulations to Kaiwen for his five years as a V!VA Mississauga
volunteer. Kaiwen started with us in 2011 and takes the time out of his busy
medical school schedule to provide computer lessons to the Community.
Community Members are always looking forward to seeing Kaiwen and
having him help them with any questions they may have about computers.
Bryan started with V!VA Mississauga as a dishwasher in
2012 and then transitioned into a co-op program within
the Culinary Team. Working closely with our Executive
Chef Anthony, Bryan enrolled in an apprenticeship
program at Humber College, graduating in November.
Christine discovered her culinary passion while at
V!VA Mississauga as a co-op student in 2013,
later enrolling in the Culinary Skills program at
Humber College.
