Cameroon (pronounced in French: [kamʁun]) 4, in long form the Republic of
Cameroon, is a country of Central Africa, located between Nigeria to the west,
Chad to the north , The Central African Republic to the east, Gabon, Equatorial
Guinea and the Republic of the Congo to the south and the Gulf of Guinea to the
southwest.
Before the colonial period, the inhabitants were not a single homogeneous group
and had several forms of social organization ranging from structured kingdoms to
nomadic ethnic groups. In the nineteenth century, the German colony, which at
the end of the First World War was placed under the tutelage of the League of
Nations and entrusted to the administration of France (Bamoun, Adamaoua,
Garoua) East) and the United Kingdom (west). The former territory under French
administration gained independence under the name of the Republic of Cameroon
on 1 January 1960. It is joined by a part of the territory under British
administration (Cameroon) in October 1961 to form the Federal Republic of
Cameroon, which on May 20, 1972 was renamed the United Republic of Cameroon
and then Republic of Cameroon since 1984. As for most Of the African States,
Cameroon and its present borders result from European colonization.
Cameroon is now an ex officio member of the International Organization of the
Francophonie, as well as the Commonwealth.
Cameroon is nicknamed "Africa in miniature" because of its climatological,
geographical, human, cultural diversity
A gamba fished in Limbe, not far from the mouth of the Wouri, whose name in Portuguese, camarão,
would have given the name: Cameroon.

Sport
The sport is known internationally, especially with its football team,
the indomitable Lions and with its international players, playing in
mythical clubs. Football is certainly the most popular sport, but it is
none the less marked By the diversity of the disciplines practiced on
the territory. This is enough to see Cameroon's record at the Olympic
Games to justify this diversity with 2 gold medals in athletics, 2
medals in boxing and another in football in 2000. (Such as
basketball, volleyball or handball) are not to be outdone and their
qualifications at continental and international competitions are
becoming more and more frequent. Combat sports such as Karate,
