The Pope also lives in Vatican City. Famous Building: The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of Italy’s best known landmarks and it is in Pisa. The Coliseum is one of the best preserved Roman monuments and it was built to hold 5o thousand people. Population: The population of Italy is 58.8 million. Language: The language of Italy is Italian. Ciao means hell0 and goodbye in Italian. Surrounding countries: The surrounding countries are Switzerland, Austria, France and Former Yugoslavia. They all touch Italy. Islands: The Islands that are owned by Italy are Sicily and Sardinia but Corsica is owned by France. Artists: Leonardo Da Vinci is famous for painting the Mona Lisa. Seas: The seas that surround Italy are Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic Sea and Tyrrhenian Sea. Flag: The Italian flag is green white and red. Here is the flag. Food: Italy is famous for pasta and pizza.
