Quick Hair Fixes
When you are in a rush, the last thing you need is a hairstyle that takes
way too long to perfect.
Here are a few easy styling tips to streamline your regimen:
1. To reduce drying time, blot wet hair with a towel and work in a multiuse produce that will
detangle and smooth your hair. This will speed up the drying process. Rough dry your hair
with your blow dryer until it is about 90% dry. Then use a brush with the blow dryer to style
and finish up.
2. Add volume. When you hair is dry, take a spray bottle and mist water onto your hairbrush
and use it. Focus on face framing around the crown of the hair to revive volume.
3. Put your hair up in a messy bun. There is no need for accuracy with this style. Gather your
hair at the nape of your neck and wrap with elastic, then loop the tail into the bun and
secure. Pull a few strands above the elastic to add lift.
4. Revive your hair quickly by just flipping your part to the other side. It will help give a bounce
to your hair.
5. If you wake up late and have bed head, consider a braid. A braid holds well with your hair’s
own oils.
6. To prevent frizz from happening, you should let your hair air dry whenever possible. Then,
put hair produ ts o your hair while it is still da p. If you get up i the or i g a d do ’t
wash your hair, then put hairspray on a brush and lightly run over your hair to tame the
frizz.
7. For flat hair, wash hair with a lightweight shampoo and follow up with a light conditioner.
Towel-dry hair, then apply a volumizing foam from the roots to the tips of your hair. For a
natural look, set your hairdryer on high heat, low speed and dry hair completely, plumping it
with your fingers as you go. Or consider using a dry, sprinkle-on volumizer.
8. Put your hair up in a scarf. Use a scarf like a headband to give your hair a pop of style.
9. Check with your hair stylist on products that can help you streamline your daily routine.

Mark and Maggie's annual drive east to visit
family started off with a rocky start. By the
time they are on the road, it is late, a storm
is brewing, and they are no longer speaking
to each another. Adding to the stress,
Maggie, who was recently mugged at
gunpoint, has not been herself lately. Mark
is at a loss about what to make of the
stranger he calls his wife. They face a very
difficult challenge in their relationship.
When they are forced to stop for the night at
a remote inn, completely without power,
Maggie's paranoia reaches an all-time and
terrifying high. But when Mark finds himself
threatened in a dark parking lot, it’s Maggie
who takes control.
SAFE
TRICK OR
TREAT?
Parents, grandparents, as you get your kids ready for
Halloween this year, here are a few safety tips to
follow:
1. Use only flame-resistant costumes. Instead of
masks, which can cover the eyes and make it
hard to see, use face paint.
2. Plan a route for the Trick-or-Treaters. Make
sure adults know where children are going.
Kids should always stay in contact with an
adult. A parent or responsible adult should
accompany young children.
3. Trick-or Treaters need to be seen. Add
reflective tape to costumes and Trick-or-Treat
bags. Give your Trick-or-Treater a flashlight so
they can see and be seen as well.
4. Visit only the homes that have a porch light
on. Take treats only at the door – never go
inside.
5. Walk only on the sidewalks. If there are no
sidewalks, walk at the edge of the roadway,
facing traffic. Look both ways before crossing
the street, a d ross o ly at the or er. Do ’t
ut a ross yards or use alleys. Do ’t ross
etwee parked ars. Do ’t ru .
6. A grown-up needs to checks all the treats
before eating. (Remove any loose candy, open
packages and choking hazards. Discard any
items with brand names that are not
familiar).

1. Have snacks ready
when the kids come
home from school:

phones and tablets and store outside of the kids’
bedroom.
