An 11-year-old New Jersey
boy will spend several months

Siegel of Woodcliff Lake suf­
fered first, second and third
degree iburns over most of his
■body in a play-time mishap
while he was visiting West Sho­
kan earlier this month.
Stuart found a jar of gaso­
line and opened it, spilling
fluid on himself during the
process. Later while playing
with Carl Steen, Steven Burk­
hart and his half-brother, Shep­
ard Siegel, Stuart tried to light
a firecracker with a match. His

The other boys yelled at him
to roll on the ground. He did,
but rolled over the jar of gaso­
line. He then started to panic
and run. Carl, a 15-year-old
S tar Scout ran after him and
tackled him, then the three
Scouts beat out the flames.
They carried Stuart to a near­
by stream and sat him in it.
They then took him to the
Steen home and tried to phone
the Siegel home. When the
phone was busy, Carl rode the
injured boy on his bicycle to
the Siegel home, from where
he was taken to Kingston hos­
pital.
Steven is a 14-year-old sec­
ond class Scout, and Shepard
is-a tenderfoot in Troop
at
West Shokan.
