It processed millions of immigrants arriving from Europe. 604 Nativists wanted to limit immigration and preserve U.S. for native-born white Protestants. 603 Old Immigrants were the wave of English, Irish, German, and Scandinavian immigrants who came to the United States in the early to mid 1800s. 603 New Immigrants were groups who arrived in the United States from Southern and Eastern Europe and Asia in the late 1800s and early 1900s (after 1885). G/601 Pull Factors are conditions that attract people to move to a new area like jobs, freedom, family members. G/600 Push Factors are conditions that drive people from their homeland like famine, disease, war, prejudice. G/602 The Statue of Liberty is a large statue symbolizing hope and freedom in New York Harbor. It was a gift from France and was completed in 1886.
