One of the most difficult things for beginner ukulele players is finding
the ‘correct’ strum pattern for a song. It depends on the song of course!
Strumming is about rhythm, and there’s no one pattern that will fit all
songs. That said, here are some of my most used patterns for 4/4 time:

Most songs in this book sound fine with strumming, but fingerpicking
them gives them a whole new feel. But what is fingerpicking (aka plucking)?
It’s simple - using your fingers to pluck individual strings or chords. The
first way uses your thumb, index, and middle finger to cover the four
strings. An alternative is to use your thumb, index, middle, and ring finger
so that one finger takes one string. Here’s what I use for a few of the songs:
