Supportive Independent Residential and Community Programs for Young Adults Having Autism and Intellectual Disabilities Stacy Jarett Levitan, Esquire Executive Director [email protected] www.jchai.org Judith Creed Homes for Adult Independence JCHAI Grew as the Answer… All parents worry about their children’s future, but when your child has a disability, the transition to independence can be a lot scarier. Many with autism and intellectual disabilities continue to depend on their families as adults, without finding the supports they need to join communities, and so they fail to develop independence beyond their families. JCHAI programs grew as the answer to help families foster independence so their children can have full, safe & happy lives. The JCHAI Model Continuum of Support Options: JCHAI at Home JCHAI Transitions JCHAI Apartments JCHAI Cafe JCHAI Homes JCHAI at Work JCHAI at Home JCHAI at Home Social workers and behavior specialists provide assistance with all activities necessary for members to live in their own residences or learn the skills necessary to transition out of living with their parents into their own residence.
