for Adult Independence
JCHAI Grew as the Answer…
All parents worry about their children’s future, but when your child has a disability,
the transition to independence can be a lot scarier. Many with autism and
intellectual disabilities continue to depend on their families as adults, without
finding the supports they need to join communities, and so they fail to develop
independence beyond their families. JCHAI programs grew as the answer
to help families foster independence so their children can have full,
safe & happy lives.
The JCHAI Model

JCHAI at Work
JCHAI at Home
JCHAI at Home Social workers and behavior specialists provide
assistance with all activities necessary for members to live in their
own residences or learn the skills necessary to transition out of living
with their parents into their own residence. These skills include life
skills such as banking, shopping, social activity scheduling and
practice with effective social behavior, hobby development, dating,
personal maintenance, travel and vocational skills.
JCHAI Apartments
JCHAI Supportive Living Apartments: JCHAI staff assist members who live in
apartments within the Radwyn Apartment Complex. These JCHAI members
often cook & eat dinner together including Friday night dinners. This program
has day & evening staffing and after-hours on-call emergency staff response.
Residents are taught all skills in order to maintain their lives as independently as
possible, including cooking, cleaning, shopping, banking, personal maintenance,
appropriate social behavior, transportation training, and vocational skills
