Tone Refers to the range of greys in your photograph, from solid black to paper white. A photograph with a full range of tones is said to be Normal Contrast • Normal Contrast; full range of tones • High Contrast; has more extremes between black and white, and less grey tones • Low Contrast; contains fewer high light tones (light grey & white) most emphasis is on light and dark greys High Key Effect This type of photograph will contain a full range of tones but the preference will be on the lighter tones Low Key Photographs Have a full range of tones but they are mainly composed of darker tones.
