San Juan Unified School District Business Support Services Elementary William’s Sufficiency Reporting The San Juan Unified School District is required to comply with the Pupil Textbook and Instructional Materials Incentive Program Act (Williams). This act requires that each pupil in each school in the district has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials that are standards aligned and board adopted in the core areas (English, Math, Science, History, Health, and Foreign Language) identified by Williams. Each school site must determine sufficiency by the third week of school. To determine sufficiency please perform the following steps: 1. Determine that each student has one of the standards aligned textbook or instructional materials in each subject area (see chart on next page). 2. Determine that each special education student has the standards aligned instructional materials in each subject area as assigned in their IEP. 3. Complete the “2016/17 Elementary Williams Textbook Sufficiency” form for your site. The form is located on the District’s Public Website: Instructional Materials Department – Williams. 4. The Williams Sufficiency form must be submitted by Friday, September 2, 2016. K-8 Schools To report William’s sufficiency in grades 6-8 please see Secondary Williams Sufficiency Reporting Instructions. Follett Reports The following report will assist you in determining your site’s textbook sufficiency for William’s reporting. Please note this report will not provide information on non-barcoded textbooks: newspapers, FOSS Kits, Read 180, Reading Milestones, special education classes. 1. Run the Follett Destiny “Student to Textbook Statistics” report. “Student to Textbook Statistics” provides you with a list of your textbook(s), the total number of copies that you have, the total enrollment, the number already checked out, and any extra copies or copies needed of textbooks. The instructions for this report are attached located on District’s Public Website: Instructional Materials Department – Williams. Additional Information Requesting Textbooks If your reports indicated you “need” a Board adopted textbooks please place your request through the Follett Destiny system. Your Follet Destiny “sign on” is your SJUSD “network log on”.
